It's come down to the last day I post this meme. I have to say it was fun and I'll probably find a new one to do sometime in the future.

Day 30 - Whatever tickles your fancy

This is a poem I wrote during my time at Plano Hogwarts in an attempt to stir up some house spirit among my fellow Slytherins.

Silver and green, Silver and green.
To others, just colors
But to us, they do mean:

That we greet our friends with a Serpentine grin
And we have the snake showing us how to how win.
And I promise my friends, what you’ll all find within
Is the strength of the house that we call Slytherin.

****

In other news, I started temping for Power Packer again. I still laugh at the name and I laugh (to myself) every time I come across something that just sounds wrong/silly. One example (from doing part inventory this inventory) came from a reason why a product was bad. The reason was: Bad Ball Seat.

I don't know what that would be imply, and it's not quite as classic as Orifice Fitting. But it's a start.

*g*

****

In more serious news, my interview for Voc. Rehab is on Friday! I remember thinking how painful a wait it would be when I first found out about it, but it's just around the corner.

Future profession here I come!

26. What aspect of the books has been best translated to film?

I would definitely have to say Quidditch.

CGI and other visual effects technologies have really come far over the years and the team behind the films has really done the magic and excitement of this game justice.

I'm still mad at them for not showing us Ron's shining moment in the 5th film.

27. What aspect of the books has been most poorly translated to film?

If I were to just pick one, I'd say the house elves. They had a role in the books since the second one (in some way, shape, or form), but the films have almost removed them completely.

Since I've read the series, I know why JKR asked them to keep Kreacher in the fifth film, but after I watched it, I felt like they didn't give him the nod he deserved. It almost felt moot to have him appear on the stairs once or twice, grumble and grouch a little, and disappear.

28. Hogwarts subject you would most like to take

I would definitely want to take Divination most. Sure, Professor Trelawney is completely whacky, but I have a deep fascination for the subject and I could see myself being the teacher's pet. Runner's Up are: Potions and Defense Against The Dark Arts.

25. Song that reminds you of HP

I believe it's called cheating when a 30 day meme has to repeat a task (this was also Day 7's)...but just to indulge as I like songs...how 'bout this one:

http://vids.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=vids.individual&videoid=789244295

It's to "Numb" by Linkin Park and it explores the relationship between Draco and his father. Honestly, I think the video is brilliant.

These are a few that I've made that I feel pretty proud of:

Note: If any of the icons above interest, do yourself a kindness and go visit them. Find the icons you like and tell them that you're taking them.
If you want to take one of mine, please comment and credit me.

19. A favorite fanart

Harry and Draco snuggles - No nudity below the belt but view with discretion )

20. A favorite quote

"Not my daughter, you bitch!" - Molly Weasley, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows

"To the well organized mind, death is but the next great adventure." - Albus Dumbledore

21. How has the HP fandom connected you to other fandoms, interests, or people?

I can't really say that it has. A lot of my HP friends were into Lost, but I never explored that show due to my complete lack of interest in it. And besides, I was into BtVS/AtS long before I was ever involved in HP.

22. Your favorite villain

Bellatrix Lestrange.

She's unstable, insane, cruel, and the only woman who's really in the Dark Lord's inner circle. (I see Alecto as being more of a minion then a right hand lady like Bellatrix.)

The internet is being wonky at my house so I'm updating from the library. *sigh* It looks like its a Charter problem though because my computer tells me its connected and the modem also indicates connection to the web. I hope it gets fixed soon!

In the mean time, here's Day 17 and 18.

17. Your favorite celebs from the movies or fandom

Alan Rickman, Helena Bonham Carter, Tom Felton, and Jason Isaacs

18. If you could change one thing about canon, what would it be?

I wouldn't have killed off Fred Weasley. That was just cruel and unnecessary.

16. How have you participated in the fandom over the years?

I've written some drabbles and some ficlets. I've participated in [livejournal.com profile] malfoy_icontest and [livejournal.com profile] draco_chorus when I've had the chance too.

My predominant role in the fandom, however, was my affiliation with the site: Plano Hogwarts. I signed up my junior year in college since several of my RL friends were talking about it one day. I was sorted into Slytherin, after completing the short answer format sign-up process. I was excited to be in Slytherin because that's where my friend, Naomi, was. I was also excited to sign up for classes. I believe I took Potions, Defense Against the Dark Arts, and Divination (which Naomi taught). It was great fun doing the homework assignments and learned about different things that the "professors" had added to their curriculum. I was top of my class in Potions (which was very chemistry/biology-based and quite difficult). In a few months, I was nominated to be Head Girl and I took on the role with pride.

I was active in the Dumbledore's Army RPG and wound up becoming the DA leader after Tiff (a Gryffindor and friend) became pregnant in RL and had to leave. At one point, the Headmistress decided to get rid of the Head Boy/Head Girl positions since there weren't enough people and I became Slytherin Prefect and eventually transcended to Head of House.

I can't say the experience was all fun and games. There were times when things got stressful. There were times when people hated me for various reasons that didn't make a whole lot of sense most of the time. There was drama and wank and stress and eventually, the primary players (myself included) left the site.

I'm still good friends with a few folks, but I'm glad to be free of it. The BtVS/AtS/HIMYM fandoms suit my personality far more.

Playing catch-up as my ridiculously amazing weekend got in the way. (I promise to post about that later).

13. Least favorite character(s)

I absolutely can't stand Cho Chang. She just rubs me the wrong way and she wasn't good for Harry either.

14. Moments in the books/movies that made you cry

Although I didn't cry during the fourth book, Cedric's death in the fourth movie made me weep. I also cried hysterically while reading the sixth book (when Dumbledore died). And I freaked out like woah during the seventh book (and nearly chucked the book through the wall when I found out what happened to Fred and George.)

15. Whatever tickles your fancy

I realize this thing becomes annoying as all get out, but I still like it:

09. Fanfiction: discuss
I can't say I have any particular favorite authors or stories in the Harry Potter fandom, but I am a full supporter of those who write it. As far as my own involvement goes, I've really only written a few drabbles outside of participating in an fanfiction-style RPG at Plano Hogwarts.

10. Favorite book moment(s)

Fred and George's swamp from Order of the Phoenix.

Molly Weasley's "Not my daughter, you bitch" line in Deathly Hallows.

Neville killing Nagini in Deathly Hallows.

Potterwatch.

Pretty much anything with Severus Snape.

I know there are so many more, but my brain isn't working so well at the moment.
