dragonydreams prompted me with Willow/Spike and the Kelly Clarkson song: "The Trouble With Love Is." I will say that this story is slightly less holiday than I would have like, but I'm still pleased with it.

Spike paced the room, half-full bottle of Jack Daniels in one hand and the shattered glass shard (that had once been in her face) in the other.
"She loved me, you know?" He slurred. "For centuries, it was her and I just wreaking havoc on the world. But it wasn't all violence and rot. I was sweet to her. Bought her jewels on Christmas. Bought her lace and frills on her birthday. Would have bought that bloody Taj Mahal if I thought it would have made her happy.
Did your boy ever do that for you?"
He turned his gaze on Willow and her lips parted slightly. She still shook with fear from his earlier threat, even though he had played the gentleman captor and not forced himself on her.
"Well…"
He moved so fast, thrusting the bottle in her face (better than the broken shard), that she stuttered her response.
"I…I…no. I don't…I don't remember if he ever…."
Willow felt frown lines crease her lips. Had Oz ever bought her a gift? Oh…wait, Pez Witch. He had gotten her the Pez Witch.
This morning.
Before she'd been kidnapped by a crazy vampire.
"He got me a Pez Witch."
Spike snorted. "What the bloody shit is a Pez Witch?"
"It's a candy dispenser. It's cute. It's…," Willow patted the sides of her hips, expecting to feel a bulge in her pocket, but it wasn't there. The skirt she was wearing didn't even have pockets; which meant that the toy was either in her backpack (in the science lab) or in her locker.
Spike rolled his eyes and dropped the glass shard on the ground. He crunched it under his boot, mashing the glass into the concrete. Then, he sat down beside Willow and draped his arm around her shoulder. He held the bottle of Jack to her lips and Willow shook her head, declining the offer.
"Red, let me tell you something. Love is a troublesome bitch. She saunters in all hips and swivel, pulls you into an embrace and kisses you all soft and quiet-like. You can feel her heart beat against your chest and you know there's so much more beyond that kiss that you start aching for it, yearning for it. You feel just like a kid rising at the crack of dawn on Christmas, giddy with the thrill of what's waiting just below that Christmas tree…
And then she slips you a lump of coal and you’re left with nothing but a bruised heart and a bursting thundercloud above your head. Damn bitch didn't even leave a match to keep you warm."
Willow squirmed underneath his arms, not really sure what to make of Spike's speech. "That sounds very poetic and all, but I'm not really sure what you're trying to say…."
"What I'm saying, Red, is that I wanna feel warm tonight…and I want you to know that you deserve more than a crappy candy dispenser."
He tilted his head towards her and pulled her in for a deeply passionate kiss. Willow stiffened at first, not sure how to respond, but his lips continued to caress hers and soon she softened into his embrace. She angled her body towards his, allowed him to slip his tongue inside her mouth. It went against her plan to avoid letting him have her, but the thing was, her heart had other thoughts.
She had felt for him.
Her heart-strings had been officially tugged.
Besides, what could one little kiss hurt?
It wasn't like she was going to fall in love with a vampire.
That would just be silly.
