As a child, Tara’s mother had always reinforced the notion that love was the most powerful force in the universe. If it wanted to knock you flat on your back, it didn’t ask. If it wanted to swirl in around you, filtering every color of the world into your being, it didn’t ask. If it wanted to heal you, it didn’t ask. It just did.
As she got older, she found out that love was picky. It never brought her just anyone. It brought her special people. People like Jillian with her Goth nails and clove cigarettes. People like Willow with her soft smile and intelligent mind.
And when Spike found her crying in the bathroom stalls at the Bronze, she felt that familiar twinge of heat in her belly. When his lips unexpectedly found hers, and his fingers tangled in her blonde hair, she didn’t question it because she knew that love wouldn’t ask.
