Six months had passed since the final defeat of Voldemort and slowly but surely, the wizarding world had changed. People were no longer locked in fear, and smiles stretched across faces in every town you went.

Within the Burrow, a group of survivors sat down at the table for the Christmas feast. Some hearts were still heavy with the remembrance of the loved ones who had gone down fighting but the room still vibrated with warmth and good tidings.

Harry Potter, the boy who lived, sat down at the head of the table and lifted his goblet of spiced egg nog. He could feel the brush of his girlfriend’s hand, and he felt supported by it.

“I’d like to make a toast. To those we have loved and lost. To Dobby, the house elf, who was ever loyal.”

George tipped his glass in Harry’s direction. “To Fred, whose prankster spirit lives on in my heart.”

Hermione sniffled and wiped away a tear. “To Tonks and Lupin. Strong fighters till the end.”

Ron pressed his hand against Hermione’s palm and raised his glass as well. “To Mad-Eye Moody. May he keep his watchful eye on us all.”

“To Albus Dumbledore. A wise wizard that led the call for unity, even after his death,” Molly said, bowing her head to hide the sting of tears in her eyes.

And so it went, each person reciting a name and honoring their memory. When it got back to Harry, he took a deep breath and scanned his eyes over the table. “To Severus Snape. A man that went above and beyond the call of duty. A wizard that will go down in history.”

Each person brought their glasses to their lips and tipped the content down their throats. And each person silently promised that they would always remember, and never forget what they had gone through to get here.
