Fandom Snowflake Challenge Day 6

I didn't get around to reading fics from a different fandom yesterday so I skipped Day 5. Onto Day 6...

In your own space, pimp three comms or challenges and explain why you love them. Leave a comment in this post saying you did it. Include a link to your post if you feel comfortable doing so.

1) [livejournal.com profile] whichwillow A BtVS community that's devoted to running an annual fic challenge centered around Willow Rosenbery. [livejournal.com profile] dragonydreams is the mod for the community and she does a fantastic job with the prompts. It's one I wish happened twice a year!

2)[livejournal.com profile] 50ayear. This is a community that I run that's dedicated to BOOKS! Specifically, it's a place to share book reviews and root each other on as we challenge ourselves to read at least 50 books a year.

3) [livejournal.com profile] barneyrobin. This is the most active HIMYM community on Livejournal and it can be quite fun. Every time a new episode airs, an episode discussion post goes up. It's fascinating to see the one-off reactions to lines from the episodes along with the posts that delve into personal theories and show continuity. They've also done prompts, polls, and other neat things to generate community participation. Plus, you can't go wrong with all the Barney/Robin fic!

In other news, I've had a good weekend.

We went to Nick's mom's house to celebrate Christmas, Part 5. His sister, brother-in-law, and nieces were also there so that made for a good day. We had a great meal of honey baked ham and a twice baked potato casserole with broccoli and cheese. There was also salad, deviled eggs, a Port Wine cheese balls, crackers, and Mediterranean-style hummus.

We also did a gift exchange. I was pleased to receive a set of appetizer plates from Nick's mom. They're super cute with peacocks on them! She also got me a cutter/scooperNick's sister and her husband got me a Kymera Magic Wand that can be programmed as a remote control.

Today, I read my Kindle. Currently, I'm reading I Wish I Were Engulfed In Flames: My Insane Life Raising Two Boys with Autism by Jeni Decker. It's not the greatest book ever, but it's not bad either. I've also done some laundry and watched a few more episodes of Doctor Who. Only two more episodes and I'll be completely caught up with the show! WOO!

Your first pimp entry is a bit messed up, I think.

Glad to hear you had such a great time!

I have not been on [livejournal.com profile] barneyrobin in forever! Is it still pretty active? Admittedly I have still haven't seen last season . . .

Only two more episodes of DW to go? Congrats!

Yep. It is still active, which is great! Plus, the midseason cliffhanger this season was absolutely one of the best things of the later seasons (5-7).

Thanks!

I've been quite pleased with how quickly I was able to devour series 5-7, though I'm a bit sad that I'll have to wait until April to get more episodes.
