Spike/Dawn Ficathon

My muse seems to be rejecting the request I was given for the Spike/Dawn ficathon I signed up for.

The request was this:
I enjoy friendshippy Spike/Dawn, particularly post-Buffy's death, with hints of romance. I also like alternate futures that are a bit darker, where Spike and Dawn have an angsty relationship. I like them both to have lots of baggage! But I don't like Dawn to have become too hard – she should still be, you know, Dawn, not some ho-bag.

It needs to be written by the end of Februrary and my brain is blocked for some reason. If any of you can think of some "alternative futures" or any suggestions at all for how I can accomplish this, I would sincerely appreciate it.

Alternate Futures? That I am not sure what to suggest.

How about something set a few years after Not Fade Away where Angel, Spike and the others were unsuccessful?

It would probably help if I'd seen that episode. I'm only on the second disc of season five. So I'm catching up, I'm just not there yet.

You could just go totally AU...have Spike being the one that brought Dawn up...Buffy never came back...the fall never happened. Maybe he isn't coping now she's gone to college or something, she could miss him helping with her homework. Spike could move to be near her and scare off potential boyfriends.

Mabey something where Future Dawn like age 25ish is having trouble with being the Key somehow...giving her headaches or flashbacks or whatever. She has to pull past Spike into the future to help her somehow.

I don't know...could make a good story.
