Interview Updates

I want to thank each and every one of you who wished me luck on the interview I had today. It meant the world to me to have that support.

I'm choosing to respond to each one of the comments in this giant post because I don't want to have to repeat myself over and over again.

Anyways, I was really excited that I didn't get lost. It got a little confusing with the one way streets but I made it there with plenty of time to spare.

I was supposed to be meet with Tim Perry and Mary C (the administrative assistant) but Mary was called in to do something and couldn't help out with the interview. Tim was incredibly kind and charismatic and it was great to do the interview one on one in a closer, more intimate setting (as opposed to my UHCS interview with 6 other people that was in a large room with plenty of chairs and lots of space dividing me from the interviewers).

He spent a lot of time telling me about the position, what consultation/supervision looks like, what things are emphasized, and what the atmosphere is like (laid back and interns are expected to do well without a lot of structure).

He asked me a few questions. Mostly about my experiences, my interest in the field, and what got me started in counseling. I tried to be as succinct as possible while still demonstrating a passionate interest for the job itself (as was recommended by this great interviewing techniques site I found)

Then, we went on a tour of the place and I got to meet some of the counselors and the psych techs. I even got to see what their children's day treatment center looks like and shook the hand of a very sweet girl who could light up a room with her smile.

I was only there about 45 minutes but I really felt a connection to the place. More so than I did when I went to my first interview. It seems like a great place to learn and challenge myself in addition to growing as a counselor. Plus, I found out that I'd have no trouble getting hours there.

Tim said they had a few more interviews to do before they could make their decision. All I can say is that I feel truly excited about this place and I hope I get chosen.

Before I left (and after Tim returned to his other duties for the day), I wrote out a thank you note for Tim (as recommended by plenty of interview sites) and left it with the assistant up front.

As I get updates, I'll let you know more

And if you think of any questions, I should ask them in the interim...please let me know.

ETA: This is mostly for my HIMYM friends, but I also thought it was a good sign that "Kokomo" by the Beach Boys started playing on the speaker system right before I left this morning.

Good luck with school.
Busy doing some editing. I'm pretty much through with my fan fiction reading and writing, I'm keeping my community [info]purrfect_fanfic open but I'm keeping it out of my personal journal and this is just what I need right now. I may change my mind later so please keep calm. There is just too much in my personal lj and having to deal with 'friends' huge long posts of things I can't deal with right now. Sorry.

It's okay, hun

Do what you need too. It won't change our friendship

*hugs*
