When the time came to explain how perfect his first date with Diane went, it took Ted nearly the whole conversation to realize that his expectations had changed. The woman he found in her, the woman he could see spending the rest of his life with:

…enjoyed the company of cute, furry bunny rabbits over cuddly, playful dogs.

…defended the taste of a good Disaronno and challenged his love of scotch.

…preferred playing the drums for Guitar Hero: World Tour instead of the bass guitar.

…quoted one-liners from movies that everyone should know, instead of lingering in obscurity.

But these differences were outweighed by the sparkle in her eye and the goofy grin curling her lips. They were outweighed by the fluttering of his heart when he realized just how awesome it would be to wake up to Diane’s face every morning. And heck, at least she was able to enjoy a good Star Wars movie marathon…

“There’s a first time for everything,” Lily reminded him.

And wow, was she ever right about that.
