TV Meme - Day 12 - An episode you’ve watched more than 5 times

I'm choosing to do two episodes for this. One from my Buffy fandom and one from How I Met Your Mother fandom. Why? Because I can. :P

We'll start with Buffy the Vampire Slayer.

"Band Candy" is one of those episodes I throw in because it's cheesy, fun, and makes me feel happy inside. I love seeing Joyce and Giles getting in touch with their inner rebels. Speaking of which, I really want the coat that Giles steals for her. I also love the appearance of Ethan Rayne 'cause he's such a weasel. Total guilty pleasure episode, just like the chocolate they sell in it.

As for How I Met Your Mother, I would say First Time In New York. I'm not sure I can place my finger on why I love it so. I imagine it has something to do with the storytelling and the flashbacks to everyone's first time. I also imagine it has something to do with NPH's Dirty Dancing impression.

Don't get me wrong, you know I love the angst as much as anybody. But thinking back to my last year of grad school made me realize just how much the light-hearted episodes were exactly what I needed.

I love "First Time in New York." I just feel like we got so much insight into all of the characters, Ted was awesome and gallant, you could really identify with Robin, Marshall and Lily had a good story, and Barney... I always love hearing more backstory on that one. Plus, that Weepies song that plays fits in so well - it's a song that whenever I hear it I immediately identify it with the moment where Robin is able to say "I love you" and it makes me smile.

Everyone I know loves Band Candy! Honestly, Buffy should have done more awesome crack. Joss is SO good at it after all.

And most people I know ship Ethan/Giles too, so that doesn't hurt. :-)

Also... hmmm, First Time In New York? I'll have to rewatch. It's the introduction of Katie Scherbatsky isn't it? Why have they never had her back?
