Willow and Tara - Buffy the Vampire Slayer

In my Lesbian Studies course during my junior year, I had the opportunity to write a paper and do a presentation about lesbians in television. Not surprisingly, Willow and Tara were my favorite couple to speak on because of my ~~mild~~Buffy obsession.

I will admit that I wasn't on board the Willow/Tara train when their relationship first started because I was still feeling pretty irked about what had happened with Oz. But soon enough, the girls pulled me into their warm and glowy bubble and I often felt as giddy as Dawn did whenever they appeared together on screen.

I love that Joss fought back against the censors who didn't want kisses to be shown by having magic be a metaphor for love and sex. The scenes were Willow and Tara were wrapped up in light and power were just so beautiful. I think that's actually part of why I felt so frustrated when magic became a metaphor for drugs during season 6 because it took away from that beauty. Especially because Tara ended up dead.

Haven't watched Glee yet so there won't be any spoilers for that. But I'll be watching it soon I'm sure on account of the fact that I have the day off of work! WOO!

In other news, I'm baking pumpkin pie chocolate chip cookies today in celebration of Thanksgiving tomorrow. Can't wait to put that plan into action.

I love Willow and Tara and I really don't understand people who don't. I don't write them often because I don't think I have anything to add to them. And I'm not sure I want to change them in any way. Although I had an idea that it should have been Tara that talked Willow down at the end of season 6. I think that would have been a more fitting end. I just never wrote it... yet. I think Ghost!Tara would have been effective.

I think you should try to write it sometime.
Could be a nice twist. :)

They were cute together and I thought it was a bad move to kill Tara and make Willow Magic-addicted.

I've come to terms with the fact that she's not so much as a lesbian as she's just a woman who fell in love with a person of the same sex.

I really don't think she will ever feel for Kennedy what she felt for Tara.

Me neither. I think of Kennedy as a rebound chick.
