comlodge who requested a Spike/Buffy ficlet where Buffy gets drunk and thinks about Spike. This is a pairing I rarely write so I hope I did it justice.

RIP Carrie Fisher

I was devastated to learn that Carrie Fisher passed away at the age of 60. As a young girl, Princess Leia was my heroine and as an adult, I appreciate the advocacy Carrie did for the mental health community.
“Stay afraid, but do it anyway. What’s important is the action. You don’t have to wait to be confident. Just do it and eventually the confidence will follow.” ~Carrie Fisher
"Death is a natural part of life. Rejoice for those who transform into the Force." -Yoda.
You will be deeply missed.
Rest in Peace.
Happy Holidays
We had our immediate family Christmas last night. My sister cooked a fantastic feast of prime rib, mashed potatoes, cheesy biscuits, brussel sprouts, green bean casserole, and corn. We exchanged gifts. My haul included a state park sticker for 2017, a Starbucks gift card, a Bucky Badger hat, The Steampunk Bible, the children's book Penguin Problems, and a Day of the Dead Sugar Skull painted by 7-year old niece. My sister, Katie, scored serious geek cred and got my husband and I a set of Star Wars t-shirts. Mine has Princess Leia in silhouette and says "I love you." Nick's has Han's silhouette and says "I know." We're going to wear them when we go see Rogue One on Monday.
The next few days will be full of holiday cheer so I'm not sure how often I'll be online. Peace and love to you all!

Holiday Kick-Off
I kicked off my holiday weekend with a
dragonydreams visit. She's in the state to see her family so we met at our half-way point. We saw the movie Sing. It was really cute. (No tags at the end though.) We had a lovely lunch at Culver's (She had a burger. I had chicken tenders.) We exchanged gifts. I gave her a copy of "Heartless" by Marissa Meyer and she gave me an adorable Nesting Doll necklace and a cool little journal. We talked for an hour or so and then headed back to our homes. It was a little bit snowy on the way (big, fat flakes), but I made it back safely.
In a few minutes, we're off to my sister's house for prime rib and family gift opening.
Should be fun. :)

What Are You Reading Wednesday?
Just Finished
The Exceptions by David Cristofano
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
The Exceptions is told from the perspective of Jonathan Bovaro. He is the romantic, charming male lead that readers were introduced to in The Girl She Used To Be. He is also a mob boss's son. This book is split into four sections. The first section gives us more of a prologue to the first book. We get to see Jonathan as a younger man, get to track Melody through the years along side him. The next two sections are The Girl She Used To Be told from Jonathan's POV. We get to see into his psyche, get to see what he was up to in the scenes where he was missing. The fourth section wraps up both Jonathan and Melody's stories in a way that absolutely made me wibble. Wibbling, in this case, is a very good thing. I'm so very happy that I stumbled upon these books. Both are top favorites in 2016.

A Is For Alibi by Sue Grafton - I actually took a short break from this book in order to read The Exceptions. I'm hoping to toss myself in. I'm also hoping some of the suspense/thrills pick up.

Would anyone be willing to make me a Lorelai Gilmore icon that says "I Smell Snow?"
I would love that so very much.

Where You Lead, I Will Follow
*I'm sick. I started feeling the cold symptoms on Friday after Thanksgiving - stuffed nose, horrible cough, body aches, and scratchy throat. I have thankfully managed to avoid a fever, but I feel miserable. Nick is sick too. :/
*I would really like it if there was some sort of chicken and dumpling soup delivery service. I'm staying home from work today, but I do not want to venture outside if I don't have to.
*I watched the Gilmore Girls Revival all-day Friday. There was lots of screaming, crying, and squeeing. I really enjoyed it. It felt like coming back to an old book. The characters were fantastic, especially Kirk. Logan has aged extremely well (rawr). I liked the storylines and the way they tried to deal with the difficulties of scheduling cast members. I was unsettled by the "last four words," but I've read some reviews that have helped me process.
*I saw Moana with my parents over the weekend. I loved it. Beautiful animation, great characters, excellent music.
*I'm starting therapy back up again tomorrow. I hope it goes well. I had to pick someone new because my other two therapists left the clinic.
*I need to post my holiday card request list. Hopefully that will happen later today.
Later, gators.

I spent my Turkey Day with my husband's dad, sister, brother-in-law, and nieces. Meals were shared and laughs were had.
I am so thankful for all of you today and every day.

A Question Meme For A Monday Morning
1. Are you named after someone? I don't believe so. Thought I always thought it was interesting that my sisters have a variation of "Ann" in their names as well, i.e. Mary Ann and Kathleen Anne. I think my parents just liked that name.

Poetry: Daughter of the '90's
I apologize for my severe lack of posting this past month. I'm going to try to get better about that.
In the meantime, I was inspired to write poetry today. It's probably been about 6 or 7 years since I've taken a stab at free verse, but I'm excited that I managed to do a little writing.

Netflix Is A Beautiful Thing; Or, how
snogged became a Trekkie
In 2009, this movie came out that was a reboot of a popular and well-loved franchise. I'm sure you've heard of it: Star Trek, directed by J.J. Abrams. Up until this film's premiere, I had never watched any of the Star Trek series nor had I seen the other movies. Sure...I had some exposure to it. I knew of the characters - Kirk, Spock, Picard, Seven of Nine, Uhura; knew some of the famous lines; basically, knew enough to get by thru other shows I watched and friends I had.
My friends took me to see the movie in 2009. I followed it up with the films that premiered in 2013 and 2016.
Then, I met this kid in the play I was in this spring who goes by the name of Danny. His knowledge of the Star Trek universe superseded anything I had ever seen before. He is a walking encyclopedia. He also appeared quite bothered that my only exposure to the show had been through the rebooted films. He convinced me to watch the first episode of Enterprise and "The City at the Edge of Forever" from the Original Series.
Can you guess which one I loved more?
:P
Thanks to Netflix, Nick and I have been able to start the Original Series from the beginning and I am absolutely loving it. It's classic nostalgia and surprisingly progressive for it's time. Favorite characters: Yeoman Janice Rand and Spock.
