Today, I watched the premiere of Sarah Michelle Gellar's new show, Ringer, and the Katherine Heigl/Ashton Kutcher film, Killers.

I bring you my thoughts on both so there may be spoilers ahead.

This film really could have been the next Mr. and Mrs. Smith (a film that I unabashedly adore.) But...it wasn't. That's not to say it was bad. In fact, there were plenty of moments that I found fun and enjoyable. In particular, I loved the appearance of Kevin Sussman (Stuart on The Big Bang Theory!) and Casey Wilson (Happy Endings.) What I didn't love was the chemistry between the two leads. It was just plain lacking, especially when Heigl's character made her stormy (yet weakly dramatic) stomp out of the relationship only to return barely a scene later to rescue Kutcher. I also thought the whole trust circle thing was really freaking lame.

I give it 3 stars for not being bad, but being awesome either.

This show covered a whole mess of plot and I'm not sure they gave SMG the chance to really flesh out the characters she's playing. I have to admit that it's not the most compelling pilot I've ever seen, but I'm willing to give it another 2-3 episodes because I thought the end of the episode was a decent enough hook to pique my interest. I'm also crossing my fingers that the writers are smart enough to tailor future episodes to SMG's strength (namely delivering snappy one-liners.)

Tomorrow, I'll be checking out the premiere of Up All Night because I heart Maya Rudolph and Will Arnett.

I found the first episode of Ringers a tad too predictable.

'Ringer' is on my 'to watch list' for today :) I made the experience that pilots often don't measure up to the series therefore I'll nearly always watch the next episode :)

I enjoyed Ringer quite a bit. I had some criticisms (a little melodramatic, plus the CW-esque music and some long awkward pauses) but I think all those can be worked out in time. I'm looking forward to next week!

I watched The Ringer as well. I kinda liked it, but it will all depend on the next few episodes if it's a Tuesday night ritual.

I was finally able to watch Ringers last night - I kind of found it and Sarah Michelle Gellar a bit dry (but then it's only the pilot ep and a lot of pilot eps are that way as they're trying REALLY hard to grab the audience's attention AND set something up for the rest of the series)But I agree with you that the end of the episode was a decent enough hook to make me want to give it another few episode chance!!!!!!! (I'm also with you on the whole hoping the writers tailor future episodes to SMG's strengths - cause she can deliver the snappy one-liners like nobodys business!)

*HUGS*

Pilot episodes are always tricky creatures. That said, in the past, there have been some pilots that pull me in instantly so...

But yeah, giving Ringer a few more chances is a great plan.

There were DEFINATELY some pilots that pulled me in RIGHT from the get go - sadly Ringers wasn't one of them, but it DID hook me in enough that I set my PVR to tape the next few eps!!! :)
