Under Pressure

I know there are a ton of people out there with far worse aches and pains and pressures than me, but they're not writing this blog. I am. That means, I'm going to share my moans and groans because I can and if you want to read them, feel free. I won't feel hurt if you don't though.



I know that it's partly a mental thing. For starters, I know that I have to write a pre-authorization for Medical Assistance tomorrow. I've never done one of those before, but I know they end up being 4-6 pages long so the nerves are definitely present.

Mostly though, it appears to be physical.

*I slept wrong last night and woke up with a painfully sore neck and right shoulder. Ibuprofen has helped a little, stretching has helped a little, but neither has super successful.

*My head is starting to hurt. I think this is because I can't get rid of the pain in my neck....

*My throat feels sore and several times today, it has felt like it was closing up. I suspect it's something allergy related, but since I've never been tested for allergies, it's hard to say for sure.

Sorry about all the pain.

For what it's worth when I have a stiff neck (which is more often than you'd think possible) I have more luck with Naproxen than Ibuprofen...I have even more luck with muscle relaxers but I assume you're going for OTC stuff.

This is, for me, a bad time for general allergy attacks too...which could be your throat problem, have you tried an OTC allergy med like Zyrtec or Claritin?

I've never tried Naproxen.

As for allergies, I intend to take a Benadryl, but I've been putting it off because Benadryl tends to knock me out.

I'd try it, it's OTC too...Aleve maybe the brand name.

Yeah, Benadryl does that, and doesn't work as well on seasonal allergies. I'd try Zyrtec, Claritin, or Allegra they're more for seasonal allergies and won't cause drowsiness.

All my years working in a pharmacy can sometimes still be useful, I had to know all this stuff. ;)

You poor thing. Any chance you can get to a chiropractor? You could also try alternating ice and heat, ten minutes on ten minutes off every hour.

Awww, I'm so sorry hon! Neck pain is the WORST, but throw in a headache and that's pretty bad too. I really hope your throat is just a temporary thing. Hope you're able to sleep tonight!

I snagged one of Nick's Allegra this morning. It seemed to make a huge difference.

There's not a high likelihood of me getting to a chiropractor anytime soon. I've never been to one (other than when I got dragged along when my sister had to go for her scoliosis) and I'd have no idea where to find one in this town.

The heat helped some though! I found my little herbal heating pillow and kept that on my neck for awhile.

I sadly got hit with a wicked cough on Saturday and that transformed into laryngitis yesterday.
