I went and saw The Artist today because I had made the conscious decision to look at bigscreen.com to see where it was playing. Thanks to its Best Picture Oscar win, the theater in town was playing it and I was quick to decide that today would be a good day to go. I can safely say that it was a gorgeous movie and I was swept away by the storyline (for the most part...there were times when the damn chatty Kathys several seats down from me thought it would be great to shout out all the plot twists before they happened. Yes, gals, they were certainly predictable, but a silent film does not give YOU the right to add your own damn lines.)

But what I really want to talk about is the other film I saw this weekend.

Has anyone else on my flist seen this?

I'm not saying that this film is Oscar material because it's not. I'm not even sure that it should even be mentioned in the same breath as The Artist, however, I have never rooted so hard for a tire/serial killer in my whole life (thought that might be because I've never seen a tire movie like this before and I generally avoid the serial killer horror film genre.)

I enjoyed the film's tongue-in-cheekness. I enjoyed it's originality and occasional artsy-ness. I enjoyed it for it's pure B-movie charm. It was damn fun, guys and gals. Damn fun.

I have not even heard of Rubber. I need to look into that. And of course I am going to see The Artist.

I hope you do. :)

And yay! I'm not surprised at all that the style of the Artist would be right up your alley.

I saw the trailer for that and it looked fucking insane.

I DID SEE RUBBER!!
Because my friends are awesome like that and own such movies. I do wish we had been able to squeeze in a viewing of Tucker and Dale vs. Evil, but time was not on our side. Alan Tudyk plays a hillbilly in that. :P

I have not seen Death Bed..., but I think I want to now.

Never heard of it, but I kinda think I'd like it better than the Artist... the reason? I usually don't like French movies.

I would really say the Artist is French.
It has a French actor.
But it's set in American during the late '20's/early '30's.
