According to the Internet, the 9th anniversary should be celebrated with gifts of Pottery (traditional) and Leather (modern.) I'm not entirely sure how to incorporate that into this entry, other than to state the pottery is pretty cool (but I suck at making it) and leather is also cool.

So, I guess my goal today is to share memories of LJ for the last nine years. Hopefully...this will be entertaining.

My very first post on this LJ in 2003 was to say that I was on the JJO Morning Show and that I won prizes. JJO is a hard rock station that plays in my area and I used to listen to it every morning on my way to work at the library. What I didn't say then was that my call that morning was not one of those "caller 10" type deals. What I had actually done was called in to participate in the "Fake At 8." That's where ladies call in and fake orgasms for fun and prizes. I admit that this was the least feminist thing I've ever done, but it was, in fact, kind of fun.

Nick (aka the boyfriend) first made an appearance on my LJ on November 24th, 2003. He was mentioned only as Penguin and it was gratitude for the fact that as my friend at the time, he was helping me remain emotionally stable. I officially announced to LJ that he was mine on December 10th, 2003 (Nick and I determined though that we actually started dating on December 2nd.)

The first writings I shared with LJ were original poems. I also took a lot of quizzes and posted survey memes.

The first fandom friend to friend my LJ was [livejournal.com profile] my_lovers_eyes whom I had met when Yahoo!Groups still existed. She joined my LJ in 2004.

Before I posted fanfic, I posted icons and color bars (2005-2006). The photobucket links for these all appear to be dead now.

It appears that the first time I posted fanfic on this journal (prior to that I stuck to fan communities, I think) was in December 2006. It was a holiday drabble call and my friend, not_purrrfect (may she rest in peace), had gotten first dibs. I wrote her an Oz/Tara drabble. Complicated .

In 2007, I was nominated and won my first award. It was the GangBang Award at [livejournal.com profile] forbiddenawards for best cheerleading/support in the BtVS fandom.

In 2008- I won my first awards for writing at the Willowy Goodness Awards. I received Best Multiple Partner fic and Best PWP for "Alpha Female." I started watching How I Met Your Mother. I wrote my first multi-chapter fic featuring Vamp!Willow/Angelus called "Taming Her Heart."

In May 2009, my friend Casey was diagnosed with cancer. I shared this news with LJ with a little trepidation and a lot of bitching about how much Hallmark sucks. In June 2009, my niece Lauren was born and I celebrated the news here before sharing it elsewhere. In July 2009, I remembered to try and give a crap about celebrating my LJ anniversary and the community [livejournal.com profile] snoggedsweetsix was born. In August 2009, I went to Ireland for 11 days and thanks to the wonders of the net, I was able to put up a blog every day I was there. I'm also pretty positive that I met [livejournal.com profile] dragonydreams for the first time.

In 2010, I wrote one of my favorite stories: "Mission X." It was a labor of love that took me from February to June to complete. I also started the fic "Holding Her Own" that year. This was also the year that I graduated from grad school, moved to Portage with Nick, and started my entrance into the work world as an office temp for the company with the funny name: Power Packer. I also got a chance to meet up with [livejournal.com profile] angelskuuipo in Chicago.

In 2011, I met [livejournal.com profile] sionnach_ayame, [livejournal.com profile] stardoll, and [livejournal.com profile] secondmezzanine. I got into politics and volunteered for a recall campaign as well as an election campaign. I finally achieved getting a full-time job in the field I went to school for.

In 2012, I'm still here and I'm not going anywhere anytime soon.

To another 9 years!

Cheers, ya'll!
