Thank you to
Thank you to
We had a staff potluck at work today and it was awesome. There was slow cooker roasted turkey, cheesy potatoes, sweet potato casserole, loaded baked potato soup, gluten-free corn bread, Oreo truffles and plenty of other things that I didn't even get around to trying because I was stuffed. I brought in Bretzeli, which is a Swiss butter cookie that my family has been making for generations.
We also had staff recognition. The director and two DVR supervisors put a slideshow together to recognize all 40 staff. Some were silly (one guy was recognized for the "best I-lost-my-wedding-ring-in-an-hour story") and some were serious (my co-worker was recognized for being the newest counselor with the most successful closures.") I was recognized as the most recent-diamond recipient and also the most likely to have a "dalek" at my wedding. Lorie, my direct supervisor, knows all about my love of Doctor Who because she actually keeps a Dalek on the bookshelf in her office. She had asked me about my wedding plans the other day and I had mentioned that a friend of mine had offered to loan us a full-sized Dalek and my dad said he knew someone who could loan us a TARDIS (which is my actual preference.)
What was kinda fun though was that reveal led my friend, Katy, to tell me that her and her fiance are also big Who fans and they are going to have a cake topper featuring two penguins walking into a TARDIS. I thought that was super cute and I love that I'm finding fellow geeks in DVR! (Now, I just have to figure out where the Buffy and HIMYM fans are and I'll be set for life. :P)

And what's wrong with having a Dalek at your wedding. Love the idea. And a Tardis is the icing on the cake. I have been watching Doctor Who since 1963 and am still in love with the show. :D
