There was a fucking brown bat floating around in my toilet bowl when I woke up this morning.

I did not have the sanity to take a picture.

Instead, I called the landlord and he told me to flush it. I asked him if I could do that and he said why not.

So I closed the lid, closed my eyes, and took care of it.

*shivers*

GROSS! GROSS! GROSSS!

Will I sound very stupid if I ask how the bat got into the bathroom?

You couldn't have flushed it in the UK, they're a protected species across here.

I imagine it flew in there during the night. The bathroom is off the living room and our bedroom is off the kitchen.

What do they recommend for a drowning, dying bat in your toilet bowl then?

Yep. We've had bats in the house before, but never one in the toilet. I'd rather they stayed outside though.

Ah, I keep forgetting there are places where you can keep your windows open in August. :D

You'd have to call the RSPCA and get them to deal with it.

Oh dear....bats can fit through any crack or space that their head can fit through (think American quarter). Our windows may be open, but they're screened in. Our house, on the other hand, is over a century old so it has lots of cracks we haven't found yet.

Hopefully no one visits while you're here.

EWWW!!!

Gross indeed. At least I've only ever found a frog... but that was alive. I am ashamed to admit I flushed it too.

Frogs in the house aren't good either.
