[livejournal.com profile] secondmezzanine came to visit me this weekend!

*bounces*

Mezz arrived on Friday around noon. We hung out for a little bit and gabbed about life, the universe, and everything. Then, I took her to the Dells and we visited Hot Topic and the Disney Store. We splurged on Harry Potter merch (I'm now the proud owner of a Slytherin tie, Slytherin necklace, and a mini Crookshanks Funko from a mystery box.) They had stuffed animals at the Disney Store for $8 so I got a Stitch and she got a Tramp. I took her to Mac's for dinner and she loved that. We watched The Intern with Robert Di Niero and Anne Hathaway and The Princess and the Frog. Mezz had never seen The Intern before and that's recently become one of my go-to favorites.

On Saturday, we went out for breakfast at the Hitching Post. I had the Eggs Benedict Oscar with hashbrowns. The asparagus and crab really added something to the dish. I was very pleased with the food and service so I'm willing to go back there. Tara and I went to the corn maze in Lodi (Nick opted to stay home.) We apparently are directionally dyslexic and wound up joining several groups in order to get through the maze. We went back to the house and hung out. She napped for a bit so I read my book. We went to Portage Theatres and saw "Girl on the Train." It was really excellent! They did a great job adapting the book to the movie. The leather recliners are nice too. They aren't quite as fancy as the dream loungers at the Marcus Cinema that's 45 minutes from us, but they're still really nice. We had a stuffed crust sausage and mushroom pizza for dinner and Lindt truffles for dessert (pumpkin pie and sea salt caramel) We spent Saturday night watching Double, Double, Toil, and Trouble (1993 Olsen Twin Classic) and Saturday Night Live. Lin Manuel Miranda is so amazing. My favorite sketches were the monologue, the Crucible Cast party, and a Day Off with Kellyanne Conway.

On Sunday, we met up with my family at Devil's Lake. We hiked the East Bluff and came down through the woods. Dad grilled up some super tasty burgers. Mezz left after lunch for Michigan. She's staying up there for a few days. After food and goodbyes, I went on the Tumbled Rock trail with my mom, sisters, Nick, and my niece for a little bit. Lauren climbed on the rocks and enjoyed herself. We stopped at Ski Hi apple orchard and I scored an apple blackberry pie.

I had a slice of the pie for dessert and it was so worth it. Especially with a generous helping of whipped cream. Mm.
