16 – Summaries – Do you like them or hate them? How do you come up with them, if you use them?

I guess I'd describe my feelings towards summaries as ambivalent. I know they're needed and I don't really have too tough a time coming up with them (though I can't say they're all good either.) Drabbles are a bit harder though given how short they are, but usually I can pull a phrase or a sentence out of the woodwork for those too.

I guess the main way I come up with them is by taking the main plot point and adding a touch of mystery to it (ex. "When Riley comes back to Sunnydale, he stays for a reason that’s not Buffy.") or if I'm using a prompt (i.e. the Witch Willow ficathon), I'll use that for the summary (ex. "What if Willow were the one who discovered that Riley was paying to be bitten?")

17 – Titles – Are they the bane of your existence, or the easiest part of the fic? Also, if you do chaptered fic, do you give each chapter a title, or not?

Titles are definitely the bane of my existence. 9 times out of 10 I struggle coming up with them. Luckily I have betas who are more than helpful when it comes to suggestions and I also tend to use a method [livejournal.com profile] ash_carpenter mentioned. That method is read through the fic and title it using the word or phrase from the story that pops out at you.

For chaptered fic, I never do titles.
