Fandom Snowflake Challenge Day 3

In your own space, talk about your creative process - from what inspires you to what motivates you to how you manage to break through blocks. Does your process change depending on the type of creating you're doing? Leave a comment in this post saying you did it. Include a link to your post if you feel comfortable doing so.
I would say that I'm most inspired by "What If"-style prompts, i.e. "What if Faith switched bodies with Willow instead of Buffy?" or "What if Angel introduced himself to Buffy in L.A. instead of sitting in his rusty car like a creepy stalker?" Those prompts give me a place to start in terms of episode re-watching and from there, I jump into writing. I'm usually able to write a story in a day/night and generally stick to writing things that are in the 500-2000 word range. I've done a few that were longer than that, but that happens pretty rarely.
After that, the story is sent to one of my three primary betas for review. Once they've sent me their revisions, I sit down with the story again and go through the corrections. Depending on what my beta asks me to correct, I could post the story moments later. Other times, it gets sent back to the beta for another read-through, another round of revisions, and then it's usually ready to post.
When I hit writer's block, I blame my muse for being stubborn. Sometimes, I can push through it and sometimes I can't. Sometimes I have to acknowledge that the story needs to go in a different direction and that usually lets the stream-of-consciousness approach resume it's normal functions.
As for the artwork and icons I do, I usually just have a day that comes along where I decide it would be fun to play around in Photoshop. Usually, it's because one of the icon challenge communities that I belong to is doing a cool theme or has inspiring song lyrics. I wish I did the icon thing more, but I've learned that brain doesn't always want to focus on such a small scale.
