Today I celebrate:

Claire Dunphy on Modern Family

She's funny, sexy, and rolls with the punches. Often times, her role does require her to play the "straight" character in a room full of whack-a-doodles but she still shines in her own comedic fashion.

The Valentine's Day episode is a particular favorite of mine because she engages her husband, Phil, in a saucy role-playing game. Of course, as is frequent, something goes wrong. Namely, the ties of her trench coat get stuck in an escalator but frees herself when Gloria comes to the rescue.

Other great Claire moments: the Fire and Nice ice skating duo (see above photo), pretty much every interaction with Phil, the way she relates to her daughters - Truth or Claire, Rough Tongue, the relationship she has with her brother, Mitchell, and the number one Claire moment:

Her love for Halloween.

Started my new role at Power Packer today now that the receptionist has returned. Mostly...it's a lot of data entry. A lot of boring, monotonous data entry. BUT...I can listen to music now so perhaps it won't be so bad.

Also fun about today? I got to train the receptionist on stuff that had changed in her absence. It was a nice student-becomes-the-master moment for me.

In other news, I filled out an application to become an adult volunteer for the Teen Court program in our county. Why? Because I think I'd learn a lot and it would get me more involved in the community. More involvement = more networking opportunities. Who knows...if I volunteer enough, maybe I'll get a job offer?

See, I'm hopeful. :)

I'm super jealous you get to listen to music while doing data entry. That's pretty much all I do and it's SO boring, except I'm also the receptionist so no music. :/

I couldn't do it for the last six weeks because I was filling in for the receptionist so it's a welcome change.

*hugs*

That is cool that you can listen to music. And I am very proud of you for taking the initiative to create new career opportunities for yourself.

Go you with the teaching and volunteering! And having music at work can be a great way to break up the boring... just don't let it distract you... that's my problem when I have music on... it distracts me and I mess up what I'm doing if it is anything that takes any thought at all.

Well now... I should get some sleep or something.

I don't think it'll be a problem. I basically spend my days entering the same letter/number combination into the required slots.

There's no mind engagement whatsoever.

I'm glad Power Packer is working out for an interim position. :)

That volunteer program sounds pretty interesting.

I'm glad it is too, though I'd rather be working at something in my field.

I know I'll get there though. It just takes time.
