I hope I don't sound LJ illerate here, but I was thinking about something because I noticed one of my communities ([livejournal.com profile] purrfect_fanfic) is being spammed. Now, the woman who moderated this community passed away earlier this year so there's no one with mod powers to block these things.

I realize I could just delete the community and free myself from it, but I'd prefer to actually do something about it.

Does anyone know if there's a way to file something with LJ about this issue as I can't seem to figure out where to go to do it?

If you flag the entries that are spam, LJ's usually pretty good about taking them down. It seems like a lot of communities have been having problems with hackers lately.

If it's your community, aren't you a maintainer, sweetie?

I0m sorry I don't know how to help you. I read there is something you can do about this in the FAQ. Anyway I hope someone else will help you a lot of better than me.

That's not what I said.
The only moderator of the community was a friend of mine who passed away in Feb. She did not give modly powers to anyone.

Instead of just deleting my membership to avoid seeing it, I wanted to alert LJ to the spam bots.

I flagged the entries as [livejournal.com profile] da_phoenix13 encouraged me too so that's a start, right?

Must be Tuesday. I'll have to remember to triple-check my Herald list for typos before I post later today.

Yes, as you've been told, flagging is good.

I had the same issue we had one of the community members happy to take over as a mod we then mailed the PTB explaining and linking to posts about the mods death then they flicked mods rights over to new mod. I also know that marking them as spam is the only other way to deal with it hope that helps
