Willow moved through the darkened streets of Sunnydale towards Spike's crypt. She clutched a wooden stake in own hand and a cross in the other. Spike may be a neutered nasty but that didn't mean she wouldn't run into something that would be more than happy to tear her intestines out.

Tonight, her task was to crack Spike for information about some group of demons that Giles predicted would be showing up in Sunnydale in less than 24 hours. Buffy would have done it but she had found a nest of vampires on patrol last night and was eager to take care of them. Xander, Anya, and Giles had chosen to go with her, which had narrowed the choices down to her and Tara. Tara had to study for an upcoming philosophy test so Willow was left on her own.

She reached his crypt and tested the door. It was unlocked and pushed open easily. Spike was sitting in his ratty arm chair watching fuzzy snow and loudly cursing at his antenna for not holding up properly.

"Spike," Willow said softly, trying capturing his attention.

"What do you want, Red?" Spike asked; faint traces of hostility underlying his tone. He wasn't angry that Willow had shown up in the Slayer's place. In fact, he had always thought Willow was a real, cute chit but he knew she wasn't here to watch the telly with him or help him deal with the bloody itch between his legs.

"Information. Giles says there is a new, big nasty coming to town and he thought maybe you had heard of them."

"I take it the Slayer busy pummeling the crap out of someone else, then?"

Willow nodded. "Vampire nest sprung up last night and Buffy's the exterminator extraordinaire." She pulled out a crisp twenty dollar bill from her pocket and held it out for Spike to take. "I can pay you."

Spike chuckled, rose from his chair, and closed the distance between them. That line opened a new world of possibilities and he was anxious to see how far he could push her buttons. Spike's movement from the chair to standing was so fluid and quick that Willow didn't have time to blink before her eyes were locked with his.

"Whatcha gonna pay me with, Red?"

Willow held up the money, trying to put an obstacle between them but Spike wasn't swayed by the offer. Instead, his hand touched her cheek, lightly scratching the skin with his nails. It wasn't quite the same as a lover's caress but this sudden shift in Spike's demeanor made Willow feel uneasy.

"I've got a better idea, Red," Spike whispered silkily. "How 'bout you pay with me with that sweet body of yours? I bet it would hit the spot just right. Always wondered what you'd feel like writhing beneath me. If I recall correctly, you're quite the screamer."

Willow crinkled her nose and her brow furrowed in frustration. "I'm not doing…that…with you, Spike. Firstly, I'm gay, which negates all interest. Secondly, there is nothing romantic about what you just said. Thirdly, why would you want me? I’m nothing special.”

Spike’s eyes softened. “But you are special, Red. I see it in Glinda’s eyes whenever you walk into the room. You’re like her little piece of heaven in this God forsaken hell hole. And you’re blind if you can’t see that. Can you blame a bloke for wanting his own piece? After all the hell I’ve been through, don’t I deserve a little higher payment than a measly 20 bucks?”

Willow felt her cheeks flush. “Well, when you put it that way...I suppose I could give you a little more than the $20.”

She pressed her lips against his in a soft, chaste kiss before bounding out the door. It wasn’t the ending he had anticipated but it did imprint an image of Willow that he didn’t plan to forget anytime soon.

Besides, she would be back as soon she remembered that she had never gotten the information she wanted and then maybe he could get more than just a kiss.
