01. Looking back, did you write more fic than you thought you would this year, less, or about what you'd predicted?:
I think I did about what I had predicted. Though the numbers will tell when I actually get around to tallying them at the official end of the year. I can say that I wrote far more How I Met Your Mother fanfic than what I had predicted I would, but I'm not going to complain about that at all.
02. What pairing/genre/fandom did you write that you would never have predicted in January?:
I think a few of my drabble call challenges this year gave me crossovers that certainly expanded me. I never thought I'd write Dollhouse but I did manage to pull off a short little drabble for that fandom. I also thought I'd never write Bangel again.
03. What's your own favorite story of the year? Not the most popular, but the one that makes you happiest?:
My favorite story has to be The Problem with Normal . It was my first time writing Buffy/Angel in a very long time and the silly mishaps just make me smile.
04. Did you take any writing risks this year? What did you learn from them?:
I'd say my biggest risk was the multi-chapter rewrite of Change the Addiction . I wrote it in present tense, which as my beta Gabrielle will attest, I spent many a day kicking myself for that. But I also think I stretched and grew because multi-chapter fics don't come easy for me and this one was able to expand 9 chapters.
05. Do you have any fanfic or profic goals for the New Year?:
Just to keep writing.
06. From my past year of writing, what was...
My Best Story:
Outside of Change the Addiction, I have to say Hostile ranks high on my best story list. It was a dark journey into the Initiative and forced me to develop characterizations for characters I don't generally play with (i.e. Forrest, Graham, and Oz.)
Best HIMYM? I'd say Fit (Marshall/Lily).
Story Most Underappreciated by the Universe:
I feel like Fit was most underappreciated by the universe. It was really something I poured my heart and soul into and it was disappointing to see it get lost in the Robin/Barney shuffle.
Most Fun:
Full of Surprises . The elusive Barney/Willow crossover that was my goal for the New Year. I really liked how it turned out and I even dabbled in the 'verse a few times after that. I also had a great time writing co-fics with
idioticonion,
secondmezzanine, and
magpieinthesky
Most Disappointing:
I may not be happy with how some of my fics turned out, but I can safely say that none of them bring to mind the feeling of disappointment. I also sorta wish I had changed a few titles for fics too.
Most Sexy:
HIMYM: To The Ren-NAY-Sance Faire
BtVS/AtS: Change the Addiction
Hardest to Write:
Hostile wasn't easy to write, but I did enjoy doing it. And there were certainly times when Change the Addiction got difficult to write too.
Most Unintentionally Telling:
Of what? *laughs*
These are the ones that probably fit into that telling category for various reasons.
BtVS: Into You Like A Train , When Sleep Escapes Her
HIMYM: Fit , Ph. D in Lily Aldrin
