I feel like this isn't going to come as a surprise to anyone who has ever known me, but here goes:

Buffy The Vampire Slayer


While I can admit that Angel the Series comes in as a very close second, nothing has challenged my love for the Slayer nor has changed my life on the same base level that BtVS did.

I came into this show halfway through the airing of Season 2. I was in middle school and I was an outsider. What Buffy and her friends showed me was that it was okay to be the nerd, to the be the bookworm, to be the woman I wanted to be no matter what.

The one-liners, the relationships, and the message have stuck with me, ingrained forever in my heart and in my memory. Thanks to college, I got the chance to explore this show on a more analytical basis during my women's studies minor and thanks to fandom, I've gotten to explore the show through the "what if" scenarios my brain has provided me with.
