Comment to this entry and I'll give you a letter.

List ten things, people, places, beings, thoughts, feelings, etc. that you love that begin with that letter and then post that list on your journal.

[livejournal.com profile] sweet_lyri gave me the letter T.

1. Therapy - This is the profession I went into so I feel obligated to put it first. I find the subject matter fascinating and have done thorough research in several areas of the field. I feel (generally speaking) quite invigorated working with clients and seeing them progress. I also feel pleased with the times when I was the one sitting on the therapist's couch. They weren't always great experiences. In fact, the therapist I had at 16 is the therapist I hope never to be. But I have had some really amazing ones and the time I shared with them sticks with me just like glue.

2. Tumblr - There's not really much to say about this site, other than I find it more addicting than I ever thought I would. It's just so much fun and I think everyone should get one. :)

3. Topanga - the delightful female lead of the 90's sitcom, Boy Meets World. I watched all seven seasons this summer, even though I'd seen many of them when they first aired or when they were in syndication on ABC Family (you know, during those two years in college when I had cable.) Although Topanga largely shed the hippie-esque traits around the third season, she definitely remained my second favorite character in the show (Shawn being the first.) I also loved that they explored a plot where Topanga decided to go on a diet because Eric said she was chubby. Then, at the end of the episode, everyone came forward to tell her that they loved her curves and thought she was hot. That's the sort of message I wish was more prevalent in today's society.

4. True Romance - This is one of my all-time favorite films. It was written by Quentin Tarantino and stars Christian Slater and Patricia Arquette. Plus Brad Pitt makes an amusing appearance as a stoner who smokes out of a honey bear bong. A few years ago, I remember one of my photo groups on Flickr challenged folks to recreate scenes from their favorite Tarantino flicks. I took a picture of myself restaging the classic scene where Patricia's character stabs a henchman with a corkscrew. Although I was missing a henchman, I had a lots of fun with it. Not going to post it here though because I don't need you all seeing me in my unda-pants.

5. Thunderstorms - are awesome. I find myself frequently mesmerized by them, though I'm not generally brave enough to actually go outside and watch them. I'd rather just look at the lightning strikes from the comfort of my sofa.

6. Tartanic - a Scottish rock band that I thoroughly enjoy listening to whenever I'm at the Bristol Ren Faire. I didn't get to see them this year though because they were there on weekends I couldn't make it out, but I still treasure the memory I have of going down to the Highland Games in Illinois with several friends and hanging out with the guys in the band in between their shows.

7. Trust - A trait I value highly in my relationships with other people. If the trust I have with someone gets broken, my basic thought is: please, go die in a fire. Thankfully, that's only happened a few times over the course of my life, which I think, is saying something.

8. Tacos - They are delicious! I could eat them everyday. That said, I hate putting the effort into making them because I always wind up with far too many dishes.

9. Ted Mosby - I know he gets a lot of flack given his role as the central character of How I Met Your Mother, but I love him, okay? I think this partly has to do with the fact that [livejournal.com profile] da_phoenix13 played Ted for our RPG in the most amazing way, but Ted also happened to be the character I rooted for most during the whole of Season 5. Also, I totally dig the Super-Date song. :D

10. Tara Maclay - I really felt I couldn't cover How I Met Your Mother without mentioning Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Admittedly, when Tara first came on the scene, I was not her biggest fan. I still hadn't gotten over the Willow/Oz split and I wasn't feeling particularly welcome towards a character who seemed too much like Willow in Season 1. But as the seasons progressed and I sat down for some repeated viewings, Tara grew on me. I liked her sweetness, liked the relationship she formed with Buffy, liked the interactions she had with Spike. Tara's a solid lady, my friends.

ETA:

11. Theater- This one just popped into my head, though it's as relevant as all the rest. I grew up in a theater-supporting household. My dad has been working tech for the community theater group and the high school theater group ever since my oldest sister was in diapers. My oldest sister was really involved too. It didn't take long before I got into it too. My mom ran the Drama program during my years in 4-H and I was involved in quite a number of shows through that, my favorite being "Madame Zena's Seance." I also got involved with the community theater and had several roles over the years. They included a munchkin in the Wizard of Oz, a reporter/Heaven Hop Girl in Anything Goes, and a palace guard in the King and I. I also did theater in high school. I had acting roles in 3 out of the 4 plays we did (I say 3 because I didn't try out for the Crucible my junior year.) I worked in the tech booth for all 4 of the musicals we did. I still go to shows on a somewhat regular basis, but I'm not involved as I once was and I wish I could find the time to invest in that pursuit again.
