Ladies and Gents of LJ Land,

I have a confession to make. I watch what I'm starting to fear is an overwhelming amount of TV and I think it's in my best interest to start cutting back.

If you want to see what I mean,

Feel free to offer suggestions on how I might reduce the amount of stuff I watch. Please note: all shows listed as "Watch with Nick" are not eligible for the cut list.

Sunday:
Once Upon A Time (On The Cut List)
Lost Girl (Put on hold until Summer)
Pam Am (Continue watching with Nick.)
The Simpsons (Continue watching with Nick.)

Monday:
How I Met Your Mother (Continue watching with Nick)
2 Broke Girls (Continue watching with Nick)
Mike and Molly (Continue)
Castle (Continue)

Tuesday:
Glee (Continue?)
Ringer (Continue...I think. Mostly because I love Jason Dohring and the show is finally getting interesting.)
New Girl (Continue watching with Nick)
Raising Hope (Continue watching with Nick)

Wednesday
Suburgatory (Cut)
The Middle (watch with Nick)
Modern Family (watch with Nick)
Happy Endings (Continue)
Up All Night (Continue?)
America's Next Top Model (Continue - this season only)

Thursday
Community (NBC put this on hiatus)
Parks and Recreation (Continue)
Whitney (continue watching with Nick)
Bones (Continue?)
Grey's Anatomy (continue watching with Nick)
Big Bang Theory (continue watching with Nick)
Vampire Diaries (Continue)

Saturday
Saturday Night Live (continue watching with Nick)

I too am cutting shows. At the very least, Pan Am has been "defacto canceled" so you probably won't have to worry much about that one anymore.

I read that there was one extra script ordered meaning there will be 14 episodes total.... Don't know when they are going to air the rest though.

What shows are you thinking about cutting?

I'm planning on watching the rest of the All-Star season for sure.

It all depends on whether or not they plan to run a cycle in spring.

Yeah, I've got a similar situation. Not as many shows as you do, but as I'm trying to get more activity into my life, it's basically become: catch HIMYM as it airs, and I won't sweat missing the other shows. If I can, I'll try to watch Modern Family, Happy Endings, Community, P&R, and Bones as they air, but otherwise I can catch all of them on Hulu. I really need to just cut Glee altogether; it is worse for me than it is good. :P

ETA: Oh, and Up All Night! I really like this show, but I hardly get the chance to see it as it airs. And New Girl, too.

EOATA: I thought that Up All Night was being moved to Thursday at 9:30/8:30c for the midseason? I think it's going to air after The Office while Whitney's going to air at 8/7c. CONFUSING.

Activity is definitely a good thing!

Yes, I'm aware that Up All Night is being moved to Thursdays. As for Whitney, I had heard it was moving to Wednesdays....

Wow, Once Upon a Time and Suburgatory both made my short list, and I rarely watch sit-coms at all. It looks like Ringer is all we have in common right now.

(My list: Once Upon a Time, Terre Nova, Ringer, Suburgatory, Nova, Revenge, The Secret Circle, Sanctuary, and Merlin, plus a couple of things on hiatus right now -- mainly Doctor Who and Warehouse 13.)

As much as I love Alan Tudyk and Jennifer Morrison, I'm not really sold on either of those shows.

I don't know what you mean :) My schedule is just as full as yours *laugh* And there is no show I could cut *sigh*

And you can't cut Bones! That is David! *g*

I know it's David!
I also know it's a shorter season this year because of the pregnancy so maybe that will help make my TV viewing less stressful.

Wow, that is a lot of TV!

Although I notice you don't have anything on Fridays... I could suggest a show, if you're looking to fill that space :)

I don't have a clue when any of my shows are on. I set my PVR to record everything and a few days a week we'll just sit down and see what the magical box is gifting us.

Big Bang Theory is awesome, though. Most of my shows are on Food Network. And of course Supernatural. And man, I'm loving me the crap out of Flashpoint and Chuck.

I will not be adding any shows. Sorry.

Yay for sharing the Big Bang Theory love though!

Holy moly, you do watch a lot of TV! I'm somehow down to four shows (FOUR. HOW DID THIS HAPPEN) so I don't know if I can offer any good advice, since I dropped most of the shows you're still watching.

But I'd say if I were in your situation, Glee would be the first to go. I've only watched the virginity episode from this season, but just from skimming Tumblr and reading episode recaps (hey, it's way less time-consuming and internet-consuming than actually watching) it looks like it keeps just getting worse and worse. And it was already pretty bad last year. :/

It was so funny for me to click on your link and see your list because I would have told you the exact same thing you did before the cut (I'm watching too much TV and need to cut back!) but I'm doing it in entirely the opposite way. There's practically nothing I watch as it airs any more, and precious few shows I'm trying to keep even remotely current with. But I have been mainlining whole series at a rate I'm embarrassed to admit to even to the internet *forehead!smack*

As such, I'm afraid I've no advice to offer you, but good luck with your cuts!

I don't really watch anything when it airs either. But I do tend to watch stuff the same night if I can find it after it airs or the next day.

The great thing about being in college is that it automatically cuts your TV schedule down for you. Parks & Rec is the only show now I'll consistently make an effort to see, while HIMYM and Wednesday night comedies stick around because they air right after I get back from night classes so I'll usually watch them when I eat dinner. I have no idea what this means for them come second semester. Everything else is catch when I can, read AV Club recaps otherwise...

I figure now that I have a full-time job, it will help me cut down.... I do love the AV Club reviews. :)

Wow, you watch more shows than I do. How is that possible? Granted, I watch more 1 hour than half hour shows. We've got a lot in common though:

Sunday: Once Upon a Time, Desperate Housewives, Pan Am, Lost Girl (DL)
Monday: HIMYM, The Sing Off (which ends next week), House, Castle
Tuesday: Glee, New Girl, Raising Hope, Being Erica (DL)
Wednesday: Harry's Law (which is moving days), Law & Order SVU
Thursday: Bones, The Vampire Diaries, The Secret Circle, 30 Rock, The Office
Friday: Fringe, Grimm, Sanctuary
Saturday: Merlin (DL)

I think part of it was I had a lot of free time for awhile (my Autism Project was only a few hours a day and Pauquette was just 1 eight hour day a week.) Now that I'm full-time though, I have t say I'm grateful we're in hiatus season because I couldn't watch all those shows if there were new episodes of everything during the week.

Also, I don't watch any of these live. But I do watch them (typically) within 48 hours (or less) after they air

That's quite a list.

I have yet to watch an episode of this season's Glee.

We pretty much DL our shows to watch a day or two after. I hate dealing with commercials.

Here's my list: Castle, Hawaii 5-0, NCIS, NCIS:LA, Unforgettable, & Person of Interest. Course it's gonna blow up when Leverage, White Collar, Warehouse 13, and Vampire Diaries come off hiatus. :)

It is quite a list.
It scares me a little that I've let myself get away with having that much on my plate.

Nick and I DL everything too. :D

Ah, Leverage. See...now there's an extra reason for me to make some cuts.

I watch to much TV too. How I deal with it? I save some stuff to watch later. Like now that very little new tv is on for a while. I have plenty to watch.

I don't watch any of the shows above live, but I do manage to watch them all within 48 hours or less after their air (in most cases, anyway. Nick and I have a backlog of Saturday Night Live, Pan Am, and the Simpsons right now.)

I'm only checking out one new show this year, mostly because it's filmed in my city and I love all the Portland landmarks and references (Voodoo Donuts!).

Supernatural
Castle
NCIS
Grimm

And if I'm feel like watching entertaining crap, The Secret Circle. It doesn't suck, but it's not masterful writing either. Personally, I saw the premier of "American Horror Story"on Hulu when they offered it and I really want to watch that but I'm not sure where I can online.

first off, hot banner, this is my first time seeing it. Second, that is indeed a lot of tv. Good luck. I have found that I have two shows I watch regular right now, and then a few others I watch on occasion. I really just can't keep up with more than that. I have six episodes of Person of interest to watch because I am only mildly interested in the show and I have been busy. Best of luck to you choosing what to watch

I wish I knew how to help - unfortunately, we haven't had cable for about two years and are getting it back on Monday - so maybe giving you my short list will help - keep in mind I've not seen very many of those shows...

Bones
HIMYM
Pan Am
The Simpsons
Family Guy
Glee
Ringer
ANTM - because I have it bad for this show. :p

I am also wondering if Toddlers and Tiaras is still airing - but I haven't checked yet.

In the end - any cutting is better than none, and with certain shows you can always get the DVDs from the library (since we all know money is sparse.)
