I want a new nose for Chrissstmasss. I want a new nose for ssssure. If I had a new nose for Chrissstmasss, I might not be evil anymore. - My Christmas Wissssh Lissst, Awkward Voldemort
Ahh, Monday. The start of another week filled with work and trainings and staff meetings and many other things to swallow up my 7:45-4:30 time. I got to help the senior VR counselor in my home draft eligibility letters today and that was pretty cool.
Basically that means we were following federal guidelines and creating an order number for people to get processed. Since our mission is to serve the most in need first, we have to assess the number of severe limitations (ex. mobility, communication, interpersonal skills, work tolerance, work skills, etc.) a person has. When three or more of these are listed as severe, it automatically puts that person at the top of the list. One or two severe limitations equates to a 4-6 month wait. No severe limitations places you in Category 3 where you'll wait a looong time to get services. And that is your DVR lesson for the day.
They are definitely transitioning me into this position slowly, but I suppose that's a good thing because it gives me time to adapt to the style and the challenges presented by this type of work.
In other news, I've been reading the Percy Jackson series by Rick Riordan (and Pawnee: The Greatest Town In America. - *squishes* for
snowpuppies~) I have to say the Percy books are decent reads. They're fun and I definitely like the spins on Greek Mythology. Sometimes though, they feel a bit like they're trying really hard to be the next Harry Potter and I really can't see them that way.
Anywho, I think that's it on the update front.
Peace, hope, and octopi!
