Title: Our Issues Have Issues

Author: snogged

Disclaimer: Joss Whedon and many other corporations own the characters of Buffy the Vampire Slayer. I don’t.

Pairing: Willow/Sandy

Word Count: 980

Overall Rating/Warnings: FRT/PG; mild angst, mild language

Summary: Set after the events of Season 5’s “Family,” Willow meets her doppelganger’s protégé.

Beta: The spectacular [livejournal.com profile] angelskuuipo and the effervescent [livejournal.com profile] velvetwhip. All other mistakes are mine.

A/N: Written for Beer Good for the Willow round of [livejournal.com profile] femslash_minis. I decided to tackle her alternate challenge which was: “Maybe I haven't looked hard enough, but I've never found a single Willow/Sandy fic. I don't get it. Vamp!Willow picks a woman out of a crowd and sires her, she hangs around in Sunnydale for two years while Willow goes through all sorts of things, and not one fic where they run into each other? Really? I'm not picky here, anything will do, as fluffy or as dark as you feel like, but if anyone's willing to take that on, I'll be eternally grateful.”

A/N 2: For those who might need a refresher, Sandy has appeared in "Doppelgangland," "Family," and "Shadow."

Willy’s Bar gave Willow the wiggins.

It didn’t really matter that all the demons inside the musty tavern were nursing their Type O-Negative cocktails and the frat boy vampires were knocking back shots of A-Positive. Willow had been living in Sunnydale long enough to know that any one of them would jump at the chance to rip into her flesh and drink straight from the source.

That was why she had called ahead to place the order for Spike’s thank-you-for-making-sure-my-girlfriend-isn’t-a-demon-even-if-you-had-to-punch-her-in-the-nose present.

It was also why she had a stake and a cross tucked inside the large front pocket of her gray UC-Sunnydale sweatshirt. It might not be the classic mini-skirt and boots look that Buffy so often rocked, but it certainly had more storage space.

“Slayer’s friend,” Willy chirped, setting his filthy-looking towel on the bar and immediately turning Willow into a magnet for leering demon-gazes.

“Blood now,” Willow remarked, pulling out her wallet (also stuffed inside the sweatshirt) and giving Willy the stink-eye.

Willy’s Bar gave Sandy an outlet.

She had always been a bit of a party girl in life, but she mostly attributed that to the fact that she was hot and boys bought her drinks. Now, though, the boys just offered their necks - each boy hornier than the last.

Except, of course, for the corn-fed Iowa boy who had seen right through her batting eyelashes and pouting lips last night. Not that she cared. She could have any one of the good boys…or good girls (because her sexuality was a heck of a lot more fluid now)…who came to Willy’s to be bad. She could have her…

…Sire.

There was no doubt in her mind that the red-haired woman collecting a bag of blood at the bar was the same woman who had given her this life. It was the same woman who had whispered promises of fun into her ear before ruthlessly tearing out her throat and leaving her to rot on the floor of the Bronze. Of course, the rotting part had been brought to a quick end on account of her being pale and flawless now.

Not that her sire would know anything about that; she hadn’t even been there, Sandy had woken up alone- in a big pile of dirt- with no one to help her escape or teach her to feed or any of those things a sire was supposed to do.

Sandy couldn’t think of a better time than now to give her a sire a piece of her mind.

Moving with the quick and deadly grace of a predator, Sandy got to the bar just as Willow was turning away from Willy, clutching a paper sack in her hands. It didn’t serve as much of a shield, though, since Sandy was more than willing to close any gaps between them.

“You left me,” Sandy stated.

“I did what now?” Willow asked, confusion flashing in her eyes.

“You left me and…,” Sandy paused, surveying Willow from head to foot and wrinkling her nose in disgust. “God, that’s a terrible outfit.”

“It’s comfy,” Willow argued, wondering why the hell she was defending herself to the complete stranger invading her personal space.

“You look way better in leather,” Sandy replied, matter-of-factly.

“Oh,” Willow replied, racking her brain in attempt to figure out what the hell this woman was going on about. When the memory finally came, it hit her like a ton of bricks.

Leather.

Doppelganger.

Me as a vampire.

Willow’s eyes were wide as saucers and her mouth formed a little ‘o’ of surprise. She had known that her evil twin had certainly got up to some well…evil…while she had been in Sunnydale two years ago, but it never occurred to her that there could be someone out there who would be like a child of hers or something.

“OHH! You’re…she…Did she make you?”

Sandy rolled her eyes and snorted. “You made me.”

“I’d check your sniffer, ‘cause I’m pretty sure you’re going to figure out otherwise.”

“I….”

Sandy opted not to finish that sentence because sure enough, she caught the scent of pulsing blood permeating off of the warm skin that was far closer to her mouth than she remembered it being.

“You smell good.”

“Hey, now!” Willow objected. “I am not dinner.”

Sandy licked her lips, sliding her leg into the narrow space between Willow’s calves and bending her head towards Willow’s neck. Her tongue licked a wet vertical stripe up the length of Willow’s neck. It was a mockery of sexual intimacy, a perfect replica of her sire’s trademark move, just the thing to keep her prey feeling uncomfortable. “We could go somewhere more…private, if you want.”

Willow gulped and instinctively reacted by reaching into her pocket with her free hand. She pulled out the cross and touched it to Sandy’s cheek.

Sandy leapt back several feet, her demon visage sliding into place as she flashed her fangs and snarled low in her throat.

“No fair!”

“Life’s not fair,” Willow replied, sucking in a breath, not letting go of the cross. “The only difference between me and life right now is I have a stake in my pocket and I could totally use it, but I’m not going to.”

Willow knew that she didn’t owe her evil twin any favors, but she hadn’t let Buffy dust her twin then and it didn’t feel right to dust her twin’s prodigy now.

Willow cautiously moved into the open space that had been created between her and Sandy and she carefully made her way to the other side of the vampire.

Sandy watched her, frustration and anger etched into the deep ridges of her face as Willow continued to walk away, not even bothering to glance back in her direction before walking out the front door into the glow of the city street lamps.

Rejected.

Tossed aside.

Like sire. Like human.

You already know I think this is nifty, but it never hurts to say it again: Great job! This feels very plausible to me!

And this?

“Life’s not fair,” Willow replied, sucking in a breath, not letting go of the cross. “The only difference between me and life right now is I have a stake in my pocket and I could totally use it, but I’m not going to.”

Perfect!

I like that line set you have in italics, Sir or Ma'am. It says that Willow's a lady- she doesn't (REALLY doesn't) want to add murder to her sheet... she's like "I am sorry for what my sister did to you, but I am not her, this matter is now between myself and her over how she hurt you during your life." (a guy's perspective of a girl's words- that's what that quoted statement is.)
The reason I called Vampire Willow Willow's sister is because they share the exact same DNA, they call the same couple "Mom" and "Dad", but by no means are they the same woman... the vampiress is in some ways her clone. (that's my take, yours will probably be different) But, a clone is an identical twin made by human hands, not the clone's fault, but the fault of the cloners! Willow is now that vampiress's sister in some ways!
That's part of what made Doppelgangland a very interesting episode- in my opinion.
Thanks for your time and attention when reading this.

I love your writing, snogged. I read a whole bunch of fanfic in various fandoms today, and not one of them were as well written, fun, and entertaining as this. I love how you write Willow!

WOW!
Thank you so much, Mezz.
It means a lot to have you read of fic of mine that's not in a fandom you follow heavily.

Daaaaaaaaaaaaang. Colder than the grave

Nicely imagined, and executed. I particularly like the tiny Riley reference :)

Thanks!

I figured the Riley reference would be good to help establish this as more "canon."

I did one other Sandy fic this year with Faith, but I don't think it turned out quite as well.

Yeah, Sir or Ma'am, no kidding that Sandy has issues! She's basically (as I understand this story) a prostitute, in an attempt to cope with the emotional stress of being raped by Vampire Willow at about age 18 in the Bronze- so of course she'd have issues!
This is an absolutely great story, I totally delight in it! Wonderful piece of fanfic... too little Sandy fic, especially with VampireWillow/Sandy (that would be a fun pairing, I think).
How about you, Snogged?

I'm glad you enjoyed it.

Though I disagree that she was a prostitute. When we first meet Sandy, she's at the Bronze with a drink in her hand. She appears to fit in fine with the high school crowd. It's after she's turned into a vampire that things become more sexualized for her.

I got the idea she was a prostitute Vampiress from when she's 'stalking' Riley Finn when he's frequenting prostitute Vampiresses (I think in season 5), and figured she was messed up somehow from what Willow's twin sister from another reality did to her; which amounted to either seduction or simply rape.
Sorry to offend if I did, I am just a bit of a fanatic for consent and propriety.
The comment about Sandy being a prostitute is derived from when she's a vampiress, what she tends to do.
Sometimes, and this is very sad, rape victims will begin 'selling their bodies', presumably to deal with the emotional stress of it all... it can be said that Willow's twin Really messed up Sandy that night!
My views on the topic.
Thanks.

As per your previous statement about how much it made you happy to find out that I was sharing your stories, I hope you don't mind if I share your story "Our Issues Have Issues" if you do feel strongly one way or another, please do tell me. I intend to share this piece- and don't worry, I always give credit to the person who made the story.

I just feel this is too good a story to allow to die, and that there are far too few "Sandy" stories out there today.

Please tell me your views on the idea of sharing this lovely tale- as I will not just take, without the permission of the writer- that is.

Sincerely:

Vantiri.

Thank you, I have by now, inbetween when you sent me this reply and when I replied today.
I am also interested in sharing your works, but I have to wonder: which ones don't you want me to share- as you seem to be pretty generous, and the ones I am eyeing right now are the "Willow/Kennedy" ones and the "Veruca/VampWillow" ones right now, but I also loved the ones with Sandy as well.
You are one brilliant author of fanfic!
