Attack of the Killer Tom-EYE-toes.
Jun. 25th, 2012 05:20 pmWhat started off of as a sorta innocuous looking pimple beneath my eye on Friday had rapidly turned my face into the of mutant...or the Elephant man...really, just take your pick.
Saturday:

I noticed that my eye was puffy and swollen on Saturday morning. Immediately dragged Nick out bed and went to Urgent Care. Urgent Care doctor reported that it was an infection that was not affecting my eye structure. Prescribed an antibiotic called BacTrim and encouraged warm compresses and follow-up with my regular physician in 2-3 day if condition worsens.
Sunday:

The puffiness and swolleness increased. Continued taken the antibiotic. Decided I was 99% positive I was going to call in sick since I can see out of my left eye, but have to squint a lot and thus refuse to drive right now. I also wasn't sure if I was contagious (I'm not.)
Monday:

Got an appointment scheduled with a physician's assistant. this morning. He didn't want to do anything other than talk outside the door with the nurse about how awful my eye looks and when he did finally talk to me, it was to say he wanted me to see a specialist. So the nurse got an appointment for me at the Davis Dueher Dean Clinic and I met with the eye doctor this morning. They couldn't tell me what was wrong either, but they gave me a new antibiotic to try called Amox-Clav. They also told me to take another day off of work and come in Wednesday morning at 8 am for a follow-up.
ETA:
Tuesday:

Able to wake up without crusted-shut eyes (Victory!) Also, it seems to be weeping, which the doctor assures me is healthy, but mentions that it'll be icky-worse like that before it gets better.

on 2012-06-25 11:12 pm (UTC)I say this because you look alarming like SO did four years ago when he was hospitalized for 11 days and no one knew or wanted to figure out what was wrong with him either. He had MRSA and needed surgery.
I'm thinking of you, and hoping that the meds kick in soon.

on 2012-06-25 11:16 pm (UTC)Thanks, hunny.
ETA: I called Urgent Care to follow up on my lab results. I have a "rare skin thing," but I did not test positive for MRSA.

on 2012-06-26 03:07 am (UTC)The doctor recommended that I take sick days, though I'm sure my inbox is gonna suck when I get back on Wednesday. On the one upside, it should be a short week if I only have to go in Wednesday afternoon and Thursday.

on 2012-06-26 12:42 pm (UTC)(Yes. It is my eye. My friend Tamakin took a photo of it (sans makeup) and made it look awesome through the magic of photoshop Photoshop.

on 2012-06-27 01:51 am (UTC)Two of them talked about it, but neither wanted to try it given the proximity to the eye. It has started to drain on its own though.
