The Good, The Gross, and The Squishy
Jul. 14th, 2012 07:19 pmThe Good:
For anyone familiar with the novel, American Gods, or you know, cool attractions in the state of Wisconsin, I am pleased to state that I'm going to House on The Rock tomorrow. I'm quite excited for this as it's my first time going in something close to a decade and it's Nick's first time ever being there. My dad got 4 free passes from his work so mom and dad are meeting us there. I can't wait to go. :)
The Gross:
So we've had a few ants in the house these past few days. Most of the time, I just notice 2-4 of them crawling around the kitchen floor and kitchen table, but today, when I tackled our small-ish pile of dishes, I found myself going into scream-like-a-girl mode. Hiding behind my crock pot was a whole damn nest of the things. At first, Nick gave me crap for over-reacting, but then we went to work. The counter was scrubbed and scrubbed and then we set out ant traps that contain a poison that's supposed to go back to the queen. We sprayed the perimeter of the house with ant spray. We poured bleach down the sinks. And still...the bastards continue to come out of the damn back splash.
*sigh*
Did I mention that I really hate ants?
The Squishy:
So this could also classify under the good heading, but I figured it would be more fun to put it in it's own category.
I found out that one of my favorite sites, squishable.com, was running a deal on the mini squishables. Basically for $6.00 less than the mini squishable, one could receive a "mystery" squishable. I've always wanted one for my very own so naturally I went for it.
This was the one that I received in the mail today and thus solved the age-old question of: What's in the box?
Ladies and gents, meet Eucalyptus.

And now I am off to indulge in the yummy deliciousness that is a Hawaiian Pizza from the Pizza Ranch.

on 2012-07-15 03:27 am (UTC)Ants are better than roaches. Trust me. It's been a warm wet spring down in the Houston area and fleas and roaches are a real problem. Almost every dog that spends significant time outdoors is going to get fleas. Try cinnamon. We had an ant problem once and cinnamon worked better than anything else.

on 2012-07-15 12:52 pm (UTC)As for the ants, at least they've been tiny things instead of the bigger gross ones.

on 2012-07-15 03:24 pm (UTC)I'm sorry about the ants. We had a similar problem in San Antonio, but I can't remember how we got rid of them. Sorry. :/
Have fun at the House on the Rock!
