snoggedThe Obama/Biden Heartland Tour came through my little town of Portage, WI today and made a stop at the Democratic office. On the bus were the following actors: Zachary Quinto (Heroes, American Horror Story, Star Trek), Justin Bartha (The New Normal, The Hangover), and Ben McKenzie (Southland, The O.C..)
I admit that Bartha and Quinto were my primary reasons for showing up because I'm familiar with and fond of the work that they do on television. Prior to my friend telling me about the appearance, I really had no clue who Ben McKenzie was.
Still, I found they were very down to Earth, brought a good message, and were just generally neat to talk to. Justin Bartha and Ben McKenzie complimented me on my Buffy shirt and Ben told me that he had met Joss Whedon at a party a few weeks ago and that Joss is apparently sweet.
Zachary Quinto was definitely my favorite though. I got a chance to talk to him for a bit and I asked him where he was headed next. He said he had to fly back to LA for work and we wound up talking about American Horror Story for a bit. I admitted that I didn't watch the show because I thought it was too scary. He agreed that it was, but that it was cool too. We ended up segueing into a discussion about haunted houses and I told him about the one my dad runs (Terror on Rural Street). He told me about he had heard about this haunted house in LA called Blackout, which sounded totally spooky. He said you have to sign a waiver and the monsters can touch you and you navigate the whole house with a flashlight. He told me that he'd go through that house if I started watching American Horror Story. :P
