Fandom Snowflake Challenge Day 2
Jan. 2nd, 2013 05:24 pmDay 2
In your own space, post a rec for at least three fanworks that you did not create. Drop a link to your post in the comments. See if you can rec fanworks that are less likely to be praised: tiny fandoms, rare pairings, fanworks other than stories, lesser known kinks or tropes. Find fanworks that have few to no comments, or creators new to a particular fandom and maybe aren't well known or appreciated. Appreciate them.
1) Sanctuary by
velvetwhip. This is a Willow/Riley set in Season 6 and while I know that Willow/Riley is not the pairing for everyone, I definitely think this story is worth a look. The characters are handled beautifully and their characterizations feel true to the situation they are presented with. The angst and darker underbelly of the plot is captured beautifully. I could absolutely picture this story happening in my head and it gave me feelings of squee.
2) Leftover People by
frogfarm I love stories that explore Season 1's episode "The Pack" and this story is no exception as it tackles a Heidi/Willow pairing. It's dark and sexy and completely hardcore.
3) The New Girl by
secondmezzanine. This is a How I Met Your Mother AU Barney/Robin fic set in high school (which I'm a total sucker for.) This story may be 6,400 words, but you wouldn't know it from the addictive writing style. There's angst, humor, and fun. How can you go wrong?
