Recap: Archer Live
Apr. 7th, 2013 03:44 pmNick and I went to see Archer Live last night and it was as awesome as I hoped it would be.
We got to the theater about 1.5 hours before the show started, which ended up working out fine because I had on my Doctor Who/Beauty and the Beast t-shirt and ended up talking with a college girl and a 45-year old woman about New Doctor Who for 40 minutes before the doors opened. Geeks of the world unite. :)
The show started with Lucky Yates ("Krieger") coming out to talk to the audience. He had awesome comic timing and ran a fairly entertaining trivia contest. He finished off with a featured clip of Krieger's movie project. It was funny stuff.
Then Lucky introduced the rest of the cast and they had a body double come on stage for H. Jon Benjamin. The body double actually sort-of looked like a live-action Archer, whereas H. Jon sort-of looks like a Hobbit. :P It was a really funny bit and they even pulled a gal out of the audience. She got a kiss on the cheek from H. Jon.
After the cast was introduced, they ran some video clips from the show and they acted out some scenes. They got the audience involved by holding auditions for people to play the parts of Pam and Cyril for some scenes and found people who actually pulled the voices off quite well.
They also spent time shooting t-shirts into the audience with their t-shirt cannon. I didn't get one, but that was okay.
They finished up the show with a Q&A, but all the questions had been sent in earlier via text message so the cast got to pre-screen them.
I'm definitely glad that Nick and I went and I really wish I could afford to go back in May to see the Jay and Silent Bob performance.

on 2013-04-08 12:26 am (UTC)I couldn't resist the shirt when I saw it. I've also seen a Cinderella one done, but I didn't like that as much.
