I knew going into work today that things would be fairly low-key. The primary server we use for work was in read-only status because of the end of the fiscal year so I kept myself busy with phone calls, emails, and research knowing that full well that I'd be documenting everything from today when the system was running tomorrow.

What I didn't expect was what happened when I decided to go on my afternoon break.

I went over to Wal-mart (because it’s a block away from the office) to pick up a few things for dinner and as I was coming back, I saw an older, plus-sized woman on the sidewalk careen over the curve. She cartwheeled out her chair in slow-motion and hit the pavement. I think what happened was that she miscalculated where she needed to turn off to cross the street and went right over the curve instead. I immediately stopped the car, got out to ask her if she was ok. I couldn’t lift her up and she acknowledged that. She told me to call 911 and I did (after borrowing someone else’s phone because I had left mine in the office). She had a pretty nasty laceration on her temple so there was quite a bit of blood. I stuck around until the paramedics came and loaded her into the ambulance.

They did a head-to-toe check and it appeared that everything was fine.

I'm definitely glad that she's okay and hope the rest of the week treats her a lot better than today did!

How good of you to stop and call an ambulance for her. Hope she's OK, must have given her an awful fright.

She seemed really calm. Mostly just surprised that she fell because it's a route she takes a lot.
