Never have I ever…gotten this drunk with a Slayer.

I have gotten this drunk because of a Slayer…and because of a werewolf…and because of a witch.

But that was then…and this is now. I am the now-Willow. I am the Willow that came back to the crater-formerly-known-as-Sunnydale with the Faith-formally-known-as-crazy-psycho-killer.

At least the cabin is nice, the rug is comfy, and Faith knows how to light a fire. The only downside is that it also triggers the memories of the ill-fated summer in 1993 when Sheila Rosenberg tried to send me to Girl Scout camp.

But that’s what the drinking is for, right?

At least it is according to Xander.

Tonight, though, the rules related to drinking are based on a game. A game I decided to introduce to the mix, despite Faith’s objections to it being stupid. So far…it’s not like there’s been a winner.

Turns out we’re both pretty much on even ground when it comes to the failing-at-life club.

We’ve both killed someone.

Human someones.

Not demon someones.

We’ve both gone toe-to-toe with a girl who never should have been our enemy.

We have honestly and openly messed up along the way. We have both taken these journeys into our own personal darknesses and I regret that ...that I made a mistake not forgiving her the first time.

Never had I ever thought that I would look over at Faith and see my shadow self.

That sounds depressing, doesn’t it?

Almost like all the other times I’ve ever gotten drunk.

I sigh, wondering if there’s some way to make tonight better.

I am pretty sure the purpose of the drinking was not to drink like then-Willow, but to drink like now-Willow. A Willow who is happy and free and single and hanging out with a fairly sexy lady.

“….New Year’s is about getting trashed and kissing a stranger at midnight.”
I swallow, pursing my lips together as a warmth rises in my belly.

Hmm…now there’s an interesting thought and it certainly brings the focus back to the sexy part of hanging out with Faith. But…we’re not strangers and I have in fact never kissed a stranger at midnight so the rules of the game must be followed.

“Drink.”

She does, drawing attention to the pale column of her throat as she tips her head back and swallows every last drop. She licks her lips when she finishes and my body responds to the flick of her little pink tongue.

I inhale sharply and finish the rest of my drink, hoping Faith sees the flush in my cheeks as the fault of the alcohol and not the fault of the lusty feelings I’m developing.

I listen to Faith as she segues into a rant about Sunnydale.

I know it’s not a great town. It wasn’t even a great town when it wasn’t a crater, but Giles has been keeping the whole team on a short leash lately and if he wants us to be here, we’re going to stay here.

Helps that I might know a way to convince her that things are not as bad as they seem.

Never have I ever....

Kissed a woman quite like this. She has such soft lips and firm hands and a yielding body.

But boy oh boy do I ever want to keep going.

Ooh, really wonderful, Honey!

Its a great remix, and somehow entirely different from Willow's perspective. And your Willow is perfect.

Marvelous work!

ok wow this is beautiful.

you capture willow's voice and her psyche: even just in the way you use language, cycling back to what's in front of her and focusing on that instead of whats in her head. its a very willow thing to do, trying not to think about her past and who she is, yet being defined by it at all times no matter how she tries to ignore it

That was hot! And I love your Willow voice, the idea of the "now-Willow" is so perfectly in character. Thanks so much!

This is great - I really love the characterization and seeing the parallels between the two.
