Holiday Recap
Dec. 27th, 2013 08:29 pmThe last four days have been pretty great, despite the gross hacking cough (though that's getting better too. I've mostly seen improvements during the day vs. at night, but on the whole, still getting better.)
On Christmas Eve, I went to a Zumba class with Tami, Heather, and Lyndsey. Lyndsey gave me a copy of the Frozen soundtrack and Tami gave me a $5 gift certificate to the Popcorn Corner. I was also first pick for the Zumba prize give-away and I selected a nifty mix CD of Zumba tunes. This special Zumba class also was held as a 100% donation to Budda Box, which helps people with cancer and their families in the local community so yay for helping out and working out!
After class, I went to my mom and dad's. It was semi-chaotic with the sisters, niece, nephew, parents, and significant others all hanging out together, but it was still fun. After that, we went to the 4 pm candlelight service. I'm not religious anymore, but there's something really freaking lovely about a dimly lit church, lots of candles, and a whole bunch of people singing "Silent Night."
We had dinner with my mom's side of the family and I enjoyed all sorts of tasty treats. We finished the night by watching Elf.
On Christmas Day, we opened presents in the morning. Nick gave me four books, including Hyperbole and a Half, Regretsy: Where DIY Meets WTF,The Stray Shopping Carts of Eastern North America: A Guide to Field Identification, and Bent Objects: The Secret Life Of Everyday Things. My parents got me two new sweaters (one green and one black), a pair of Skechers Go Walks, and the game Clue. My sister gave me a Peace Corps calendar and a reindeer Pez dispenser. My dad's side of the family came over and we did a White Elephant gift exchange for the first time. I got this really awesome hat, a copy of The Girl Who Played With Fire, and microwave popcorn. We finished the night by watching Home Alone.
On the 26th, we celebrated my mommy's birthday. She had lunch at McDonald's (don't ask, it's her favorite.) We played games, watched Hitched For The Holidays, and she let me have some down time while her, my sisters, and my niece and nephew went cross-county skiing.
Today, my mommy and I had some bonding time and went shopping. I picked up a new pair of shoes for work, a pair of blue jeans, two sweaters, and a cardigan.
I want to thank
angelskuuipo for the card and the gift. It will be spent wisely. :P I also want to thank
sionnach_ayame for Fast and the Furious 6. Super excited about both.

Also. I must say, The Stray Shopping Carts of Eastern North America: A Guide to Field Identification, we had some of those photos and identification chart at the museum last January! It was part of our 'Stocked' exhibition and it was REALLY cool to see some of the places that they found shopping carts!
