Good Day So Far

Today was my friend Alicia's baby shower. Normally, I don't get too excited about those events, but Alicia is a good friend of mine (she's into theater and geeky things) so I wanted to make sure I went. My friend Sabrina was also at the shower so it was really nice having someone to talk to. The party was held at a restaurant called the Armory. We had a choice for lunch of either the smoked turkey club or the Armory burger. I opted for the turkey club. It had bacon, tomato, lettuce, and garlic mayo and it was definitely the right choice! The party did come to an abrupt ending though as Alicia's water broke during gift opening. Thankfully, Alicia's hubby was there to make sure she got to the hospital.

After the shower, Sabrina and I opted to go to the mall. I picked up two new sweaters (one gray, one pinkish-purple) for under $24.00 and a really pretty cream infinity scarf .

You are very welcome! (And I apologize for how adding that gif stretched out the thread to ridiculous lengths, I had no idea. LJ is so weird sometimes with the formatting.

And yes, I love that scene - the synchronized overhead high five totally MAKES it, and I've starting using the phrase in buffyverse icons.

Also, a little bit of bitchy lily is a good time for me. (I know some fans of the show hate lily. I have no idea why. Then again I love Buffy, and Renee from Crossing Jordan. *shrugs*)

Woo boy was that an eventful baby shower! (And I always think of those things as being rather boring.*lol*)

My saturday was spent volunteering at the local food co-op as always - my weekly social outing! My landlord has decided to be pissed off at me but I'm not engaging in his rage. Especially after he engaged in name-calling. (How charmingly juvenile.)

I think there was an episode of Taxi in the '70's (one of my favorite shows back in the day) where someone gave birth in the back of one of the NYC cabs? (which, gross.)

And I've been volunteering there for several years now - I tried being a volunteer produce manager for a while - when there were NO paid staff (now there are several paid employees); and I totally burned out on it. So now I just do sampling and cooking on the weekends and that makes me happier.

"Silly" is the exact right word for my l-lord btw. I saw him yesterday at the co-op and smiled and said good afternoon and he just grimaced. I think it's kind of funny, really.

Sounds like a great baby shower! Having your water breaking during a baby shower is certainly a plot point that you only really see in movies, though it must be exciting (and slightly scary!) to have it happen in real life. I hope your friend and her new baby are doing well!
