A very good LJ friend of mine, [livejournal.com profile] pickamix, passed away last night.

I knew her first as ShakenSilence. I remember when she came onto my radar. She had written a multi-chapter story about Willow and Angel becoming soul mates and I read every chapter. Her fiction and her artwork got better as she delved deeper into the fandom and it was a pleasure to watch her grow as an author and an artist.

It didn't take long for us to get to know each other and soon we exchanged emails and sent holiday cards to each other.

I will miss her fierce passion and her insights, but I am grateful that she is now free from the intensely horrible pain that plagued her.

My heart goes out to her family, especially her daughter, as they deal with this difficult and challenging time.

:(

Wow, I'm so sorry. I didn't know her but I knew of her. I had no idea she was sick though.

At least she's not hurting anymore.

I am so sorry. We were just talking - she completely designed the Pub and I thought she was getting better. I didn't know her well, but I am glad she had a friend like you to be with her, and I am glad she is no longer in pain.

I'm in shock. I knew she was ill but I had no idea that she was in such bad shape. My heart goes out to her loved ones. The loss of her presence will be felt.

Yeah. I think she kept that information pretty filtered.

Yes. I'm glad for that.

I think part of that is because she had a lot of scheduled entries on LJ and I believe she still has some that will be coming out.

It's crazy to think she's gone, but I'm glad she's not hurting anymore.

I suspect that's because she was keeping her pain under some pretty heavy filters and kept scheduling entries to go out on LJ.

While I didn't know her, I know it's always hard to lose a friend. My condolences to you. *HUGS*

I didn't know her very well, but she made quite an impression on me with her warmth, generosity, and enthusiasm for the Buffyverse. I'll miss her, and hugs to you and for all the people who loved and lost her.

I was stunned at how much she endured the few times she talked about it - and only reluctantly at that. She was very clear about not wanting to "bother" other people with her troubles, not wanting to be fussed over or pitied.

I'm still pretty numb, and I only knew her for a short while; i can't imagine what you're going through right now dear. This is the third friend you've lost this year, isn't it? Oh gosh, all the hugs in the world to you, to her family.

I hope you don't mind i asked bangle_4e to change my 20in20 claim to Willow, in Megan's honor.

Yes. I think your switch to Willow in Megan's honor is an excellent idea.

She was a really neat person. I'm glad she let me be part of her life for a time and I'm glad that she's free of pain now.

*hugs back*

That's right, Casey - it's been quite a year for you, hon, I don't know how you endure the losses and are still smiling. I'm so glad you have Nick with you there through it all.

I think your switch to Willow in Megan's honor is an excellent idea.

Thank goodness Marie has claimed the Wish because reclaiming Vamp Willow was so damn tempting. Megan and I had just become friends again and then I came out with my VW set. She, you and Gabrielle all snagged icons from it, so - very happy memories for me there.

It's possible I could focus on S1 Willow and have both, we'll see. I've found the perfect gorgeous image for the out of character theme, I don't know if it's overused in Willow fandom but it's new to me.

BTW, as most of my capping activities have focused on Sarah/Buffy, can you recommend a fansite with good images of Aly as Willow specifically?

For general caps I already use Pretty as a Picture/Screencap Paradise, plus some from Buffyworld for S1; Leave me the White doesn't have any S1 images.

I've looked at Bloodqueen a little and not been overly wow'd by the quality but maybe I haven't given the site a fair shot?

Honestly...I keep smiling because I don't like the alternative. Let's just say the shark is my spirit animal...I need to keep moving.

I don't really know any good Aly specific sites. You listed all the ones I use myself.

I wouldn't have imagined shark as your spirit animal - but they do get a really bad rap don't they?

I don't really know any good Aly specific sites. You listed all the ones I use myself.

I didn't know if there was any equivalent to something like smg-france.net (for Sarah). i found some more drop-dead gorgeous photoshoot images at THe chosen two gallery, I may see if Lady Manson's Shadow of Reflection has decent early season caps (late season ones are horribly out of proportion and unuseable.)

I'm here via [livejournal.com profile] red_satin_doll, mostly because I believe part of the grieving process is sharing mutual grief. So yeah. Just want to add my voice to those missing Megan. For me her passing has been a bit of a personal epiphany. Ten years ago I was at a Pentecostal missionary school preparing to go to China. I thought I was an open-minded person, but I realized that back then I would have been extremely troubled by the certainty that Megan, as an atheist, would be going to hell.

I'm still a Christian, but I align myself with the progressive Christian Left. I've become a lot more welcoming and accepting and able to love and respect people with all kinds of different beliefs, and I think that's what Megan has left me - I realized how much I respected that she passed the way she lived. I don't need to worry about where she is now because I've realized that such a question is so much bigger than I am that I know nothing. It's not my job to wonder what happened to her after she passed. My job is to continue to love her and respect her and remember her because she was a part of my life. I my not have known her well, but I do feel left with a gift because of this new way of thinking.

I absolutely agree.
Megan deserves that respect from those who loved her.

I know my husband, also an atheist, would expect the same.
