Bittersweet and strange.

Bile rises in his throat, choking him as he drops to his knees on the cold pavement.

This is what it feels like to taste failure…

Inhale disappointment…

Suffocate on loneliness.

He might have known those sensations once, but over the years, he’d allowed himself to forget.

He’d let the Dark One in.

And he pushed her out.

Finding you can change.

Ha. That’s a laugh.

He can’t change.

She thought he could once, but she was wrong.

He is a villain, a power-hungry dog, a Beast.

He had thirsted only for power and had played her for a damn pretty fool.

He could have let her in.

He could have chosen her.

But he pushed her out.

Learning you were wrong.

She turns away, total agony rending her heart into pieces as his sobs wash over her.

She wants to be wrong.

She wants to turn around, to run across the line. She wants to be in his strong arms again, feel his devious lips on her skin.

She wants to dance with him again like they did on their honeymoon.

But she doesn’t.

Not tonight.

She can’t let him back in.

He pushed her out.

This was heartbreaking. I keep rooting for that guy, but I'm torn, because he's so wonderful when he's evil :)
