Sexism is alive and well.
Sep. 18th, 2015 12:09 pmI was leaving Kwik Trip today and held the door open for the next person coming in (a white male). He grabbed the door from me and said: "Come on, hunny. You don't need to hold a door for a man."
Ugh. I know chivalry is not dead, but that doesn't excuse sexist behavior.

on 2015-09-18 05:32 pm (UTC)I went into this Lebanese bakery once - it had been there for years, but this was the first time I went in - and the old man working the cash thought it would be funny to tell me a whole bunch of crude, sexist jokes while I cashed out.
I left without completing my purchase and never went back. It's since gone out of business and I'm a little happy about that.

on 2015-09-18 09:48 pm (UTC)Ugh, that's so annoying! I used to, briefly, work with a senior guy, who would call me "kiddo" on the phone when we discussed business. I doubt he called any of the junior male coworkers that. Very glad I no longer work with him.
