<---Leslie Knope Gets It Right
Jan. 12th, 2014 09:20 pmI made a decision at the start of this new year that I was going to try out for the dinner theater production that Portage Area Community Theater was putting on. The show is called "Alibis" and it's a murder-mystery comedy that's very similar to Tim Curry's Clue. Keep in mind, it's been almost a decade since I've done a play. The last speaking role I had was the Philostrate in A Midsummer Night's Dream and that was my senior year of high school.
Anyway, last week, auditions were held and I showed up both nights.
At the end of Thursday's audition, the director invited me out for drinks with the two co-producers, two of the men that auditioned, and another gal who auditioned who's on the PACT board with me. At the meeting, the director told me he liked my voice and wanted to know if I would accept the role of Dr. Jacqueline Hyde (say that out loud and try not to laugh), the dotty chemist.
Of course, I told him yes.
This weekend, I was officially asked in writing if I would accept the role.
Again, I said yes.
I know that I'm probably crazy since Dr. Hyde has 72 lines in the show, which marks this as the biggest role I've ever had. But I don't care. I'm positively over the moon and I can't wait for rehearsals to start!
