It's been a few weeks since I've done an update and I figured I was probably due for one.

The day has finally come.

Opening night of "Alibis."

Tonight's the night that a group of 9 fabulous people (myself included :P) will take to the stage at Northwoods Inc. and show the community what we're made of.

We will recite the lines we've practiced for months and hopefully have them rolling in their chairs with laughter...

I think. ;)

Tonight was the opening night of our Cabernet Cabaret and I could not be more proud of my cast for the work they did tonight. I'm also giddy because I nailed my high note tonight and that is just plain awesome.

We performed for a packed wine bar and got the laughs we were hoping for. We also made over $300 in donations, which is damn impressive in my opinion!

There were naturally a few hiccups (and one massive burp), but that is Murphy's Law and I tried to not let those things get to me too much. Admittedly, though, as a co-producer, I already had my fair share of anxiety without the hiccups and burps.

Regardless, I am seriously looking forward to tomorrow night and I'm also looking forward to getting a free day on Sunday to just relax. :P

Happy Valentine's Day, flisties! I <3 you all.

I made a decision at the start of this new year that I was going to try out for the dinner theater production that Portage Area Community Theater was putting on. The show is called "Alibis" and it's a murder-mystery comedy that's very similar to Tim Curry's Clue. Keep in mind, it's been almost a decade since I've done a play. The last speaking role I had was the Philostrate in A Midsummer Night's Dream and that was my senior year of high school.

Anyway, last week, auditions were held and I showed up both nights.

At the end of Thursday's audition, the director invited me out for drinks with the two co-producers, two of the men that auditioned, and another gal who auditioned who's on the PACT board with me. At the meeting, the director told me he liked my voice and wanted to know if I would accept the role of Dr. Jacqueline Hyde (say that out loud and try not to laugh), the dotty chemist.

Of course, I told him yes.

This weekend, I was officially asked in writing if I would accept the role.

Again, I said yes.

I know that I'm probably crazy since Dr. Hyde has 72 lines in the show, which marks this as the biggest role I've ever had. But I don't care. I'm positively over the moon and I can't wait for rehearsals to start!

Because I'm a member of the Portage Area Community Theater board, I have the exciting opportunity to go see the community theater's production of Rocky Horror tonight. It's just a preview show since tomorrow is the true opening night, but I'm excited.

This weekend has been utterly fabulous.

Saturday started off with a nice glass of Georgia peach iced tea and shortly thereafter, a visit from [livejournal.com profile] dragonydreams! I introduced her to Nick and we all walked a few short blocks to the Taste of Portage Market and Craft Fair.

[livejournal.com profile] dragonydreams ordered a brat (in true Wisconsin-style) and I tried a walking taco. Nick tried a steak sandwich, which he said was quite tasty. After food, we wandered down the street and looked at the craft show and the vintage car show. Then, we did another quick swing through the food tents and [livejournal.com profile] dragonydreams and I got cream puffs. Mmm...mmm...good.

After food, we returned to my apartment and [livejournal.com profile] dragonydreams and I went to the grocery store to get fixings for our picnic dinner. We picked up bread, turkey, swiss cheese, and yummy baguette chips. We came back to the apartment and [livejournal.com profile] dragonydreams introduced Nick and I to the first two episodes of Dexter. I can definitely see why she likes the show. It's really good!

Around five-o-clock, [livejournal.com profile] dragonydreams and I drove to the American Players Theater to see Rosencrantz and Guildenstern Are Dead. I'm pretty sure it's the first time I've ever been to that theater and I loved. It's an outdoor theater and the weather wasn't bad given how hot it had been all day. It was a little muggy, but the breeze was so nice and cool. We hit up the gift shop and got mugs (mine's blue, hers is green) that say: "Life is short. Play in the woods." I also got two magnets. One says: "Please Don't Tame The Shrew" and the other says: "Last one out: Turn Off The Stars."

This morning Nick and I took [livejournal.com profile] dragonydreams to the Log Cabin in Baraboo for breakfast. It was absolutely delicious. When we got back to the apartment, she headed back to her parents.

I definitely wish more weekends were like this.
