Monster truck rallies and American football games are not romantic. Violence and aggression runs thick in the air instead of hearts and flowers. It was never personal or intimate like a quiet evening with candlelight and demon folklore. But Jenny always managed to find the romance in them. She went out of her way to surprise him with a chaste kiss in the stands or a grabbing his hand during an intense moment.

That’s why he should have known better when he saw the rose petals and the candles. He should have known something was wrong. He should have known.
