Summary of Bunny: What would have happened if Angel had met up with Cordy and her ascension hadn’t happened?

Angel stood at the edge of the cliff, watching the waves crash against the sandbar. He shifted his weight uncomfortably; checking his watch, wishing he had left a few minutes later. But then he thought that if he had shown up later, than she would be standing here agonizing over the slow passing of the minutes. No, it was better that he suffered that fate. She would be here soon anyways. Unless she forgot or she was being attacked by a nest of angry, hornet demons. Angel shook his head, trying to free his mind from those ridiculous thoughts.
He lifted his hand to his mouth and exhaled sharply in an attempt to see how bad his breath smelled. But did vampires really have bad breath? It’s not like they could breathe so maybe they didn’t have bacteria problems either. He had never heard of a vampire with gingivitis but he still brushed his teeth everyday, just in case.
His ears perked up at the sound of tires crunching over gravel and a smile crossed his face as Cordelia stepped out of her car.
“Cordelia,” he said quietly, forcing himself to regain composure.
“Angel. I need…I want…We need to talk.”
“Talking is good.” And so is kissing you, he added.
Cordelia took a deep breath and stepped closer to Angel, closing the gap between them. “Angel, I’ve been doing a lot of thinking. And people have been telling me this stuff too, but that’s beside the point. You’re probably going to think that I am clinically insane but I just need to get this off my chest, you know?”
Angel’s hands curled into fists next to his side and he could feel the tendons burning underneath his skin. He wanted to grab her, embrace her, and feel her lips tingle underneath his; but he needed to show restraint. He had never felt so nervous in all of his life. Sure, he was a renowned champion and he had saved the world a dozen times but all of that paled in comparison to the words that he knew were going to come out of her mouth.
“I think I’m in love with you,” Cordelia confessed. “I think I’ve always been in love you. Ever since you walked into that party in LA and we started working together. Sure, the love has shown itself in different ways but I know what way it needs to go now. I just needed to tell you that.”
Angel let his hands relax and he leaned his head towards her, brushing his forehead against her hairline.
Cordelia tilted her head and brushed her lips against his. “So, that’s a mutual feeling?”
Angel grinned and wrapped his arms around her waist, pulling her tighter against his frame. His lips melted into hers and he knew that if his heart had a beat, it would be racing.
Cordelia’s arms wrapped around his neck and she stood up on tip-toe, deepening the kiss and feeling a warm glow surge through her body. She felt like Scarlett O’Hara in Gone with the Wind. Angel was the person Rhett was really talking about when he said “you should be kissed and often, and by someone who knows how.”
This was what happily ever after was supposed to look like. And come hell or high water, they were going to make this work even if the odds weren’t perfect for couples in a demon community.
