I wasn't actually tagged by anyone but I saw this on [livejournal.com profile] snowpuppies journal and I felt compelled to do some self-reflection...regardless of my lack of eloquence.

Sometimes it's ok to pimp yourself out. Post a list of your top five fic-favorites you've written, regardless of fandom or the reason you love them. This isn't about the BEST things you've written, but what you LOVE most. Then tag five other people to do the same.

1. Alpha Female (Willow/Angel)
I love this story because of the way it challenged me to expand as a writer. It was the first time I signed up for the [livejournal.com profile] whichwillow contest and I was excited to try the prompt of turning Willow into a girl possessed by a hyena. It also made me think about how Angel might be dealt with because no one knew he was a vampire yet. In addition, I learned about the pack and mating habits of hyenas and where an Alpha Female might fit in. This story also seems to be the most recognized in the fandom and I really appreciate that.

2. Illegal Drug (Spike/Liam)
I don't write a lot of Human AU and at the time I wrote this, male slash wasn't something I felt comfortable writing. I really consider this my first slash story and it will always have a small place in my heart. I'm also fond of high school Spike and Angel and drug references. I find them to be an entertaining combination.

3. Taming Her Heart (Vamp!Willow/Angelus)
This fic was a monumental achievement for me. Before this, I hadn't really gone out of my way to plan multi-chapter fics. I was content to do one-shots and drabbles and the occasional sequel. This story not only stretched me as a writer but it was fun to write. I loved getting into the heads of Vamp!Willow and Angelus just to see what kind of power struggle they might engage in. I also formed deeper friendships with my powerhouse betas Kallie and Heather.

4. Does the Mouse Scream? (Fred/Angelus)
After watching Season 4 of Angel and falling in love with the Angelus storyline, I knew I had to write a story with him and Fred. I had fun getting dark and dirty with this fic. I love thinking of Fred as a character who might get off on Angelus's dark sadism even when she won't admit it. I was pleased when people commented on my characterizations. I'm always thrilled when I can get those right. I really appreciate Ash for her beta skills. When writing dirty!bad!wrong fic, it's always good to talk to one of the queens :)

5. Poker Gone Wild (Angel/Jonathan, Spike/Warren, Clem/Xander, Giles/Andrew)
This colloborative crack!fic was easily the most fun thing I've ever written. It was a great experience to work with Nene and I have fond memories of our chat sessions. I really feel that we had the freedom to be out there and get a little crazy. If given the opportunity, I would happily work with her again on something.

I'm sure there are plenty of others that could make this list but glancing at my Master Fic Lists, these five stand out from the pack for me tonight.

ETA: I don't feel like tagging anyone. So if you want to give it a shot, go for it.

These are all excellent, hon! And you have every reason to be proud of Alpha Female.

Looks like a good list, hon! I'm glad you decided to go ahead and do it. I've been having lots of fun reading everyone's lists and catching fic I'd missed.

I'm glad I decided to do it too.

It's interesting to see what stories the author chooses.
