I have a question for my flist

Can you recommend any movies that feature a dysfunctional family? I have to write an assessment for my Marriage and Family class.

So far, I've been given these suggestions:
In the Bedroom
Because I Said So
Pieces of April
What's Eating Gilbert Grape?

But I'd love to see what you all can come up with so that I can have a grander selection.

I've seen the Family Stone

But I've never seen Deep End of the Ocean

What's it about?

it's starring michelle pfeiffer and it centers around this family that's all messed up because their son disappeared when he was little... then he turns up again as a young man... it's not really about the abduction so much as about the impact on the family, and the issues that arise when he comes home, etc... it's got some great acting in it, and it's very emotional...

Would Gaslight count? Or there was another but I can't remember the title of it at the moment!

"The Virgin Suicides" is dysfunctional...that and "What's Eating Gilbert Grape" is what came to mind first to me. Good luck on your project!

The Happiness of the Katakuris. It's a relatively obscure, but thoroughly delightful Japanese musical about a family trying to keep together amidst a murder-spree happening around them.

You could try 'The Upside Of Anger'

There was one a while back - I think it was called Home for the Holidays, maybe? Holly Hunter is in it, and Robert Downey, Jr., and a bunch of other people I really liked.

It's a dysfunctional Christmas at its worst. Even if you don't write about it, I recommend it just for fun.

Oh, and there's always Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf, if you can count just a husband and wife as a family.
