Angel’s lips were pressed against hers, soft and lingering. It was almost as if he was trying to memorize the moment, burning it into his ancient memory. There was no hint of him trying to compare the kiss to something that might have been better. It was relaxed and comfortable, with no tension or guilt.

“Angel,” she whispered, pulling herself away from the kiss. “We should stop.” She knew there was a fine line between celebrating a holiday tradition and getting carried away.

Angel stepped backwards and shoved his hands into his pockets, looking sheepish. “Right. Now, that we’ve done that…do you guys have any more information about the Mayor?”

Willow frowned, wondering why Angel had decided to switch to indifference. Maybe she had been wrong and he hadn’t felt the spark after all. “We haven’t found much but I’m sure Buffy will let you know when we…”

Without warning, the vampire’s lips crushed against hers again and Willow felt her heart soar. She had been wrong, Angel had definitely felt the very good sparking.

In the shadows of Giles’s office, a brunette cheerleader grinned. There was nothing quite like mistletoe to bring the right people together during the holiday season.
