Unexpected Fanfiction Inspiration

Tonight, I had a delightful discussion with the boyfriend, which turned to the topic of me expressing excitement over my new Crossover fic and the response I've received thus far.

Then, I told him how weird is for me to play around with the canon ships of HIMYM even though it comes so easy to step outside the canon for Buffy. I also talked about the fact that I haven't really gotten to explore Domination/submission and BDSM with the HIMYM characters like I have with Joss's creations.

You know what he suggested I write in an effort to explore my favorite smut topics...

And he wants me to make the Ted the bitch.

True story.

I'm eager to see where the muse goes with that one. Should be interesting.

I'm currently in the process of writing a Barney and Lily where I plan to straight out say in the warnings that if you don't want to see Lily cheat...don't read it. I think I might incorporate some kinky shit too just 'cause I can ;)

As far as my dark!fics go...I like the dirty!bad!wrong stuff. The stuff that you shouldn't find sexy and compelling but the writer makes you love it.

EDIT: I have a question, hun...when I finish my Barney/Lily, you mind giving it a read through. I'm not looking for a beta unless you notice something glaring I need to tweak or something. Just someone I trust in the fandom to get an initial reaction.

I've done pretty much everything. Knife-play/blood play, necro, bdsm, bondage... I think you can get immune to it. It's more shocking if you put something like that in the middle of a regular story where people aren't expecting it. But yeah, all of that can be *really* sexy. I'll pretty much read anything.

That's exactly what I'm doing it for. seularen read my Willow/Barney fic yesterday and wanted to see me explore the Barney giving Lily the "trademark Barney Bang" I couldn't resist the challenge.

And I *agonised* about my story for that community. It's SO HARD to find a place where you can get Lily and Barney together and keep it real. There's a couple of windows. One is the Marshall/Lily Breakup period and everyone has already done them in SF so many times. So I set mine in NY on her reture.

The other point I can think of is around the time Ted/Barney were estranged. Think about the AMAZING comfort/hurt scenarios you could do with a Lonely Barney?

Well yeah, technically during Ted's de-broing of Barney it would still be infidelity!

But the idea doesn't scare me. Lily's got that wild look about her. It'd be really surprised if she never strays during her marriage, as much as I love Marshall.

The Ted/Barney split is definitely a good place for it and definitely an option in the future.

But that's not what I have in mind right now. I like creating my own scenarios :)
