Saying No To Dreamwidth
May. 4th, 2009 09:48 am![[personal profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/silk/identity/user.png)
I want to make an announcement, even though I know I've shared this opinion a few times.
I will not be creating a Dreamwidth account. I will use the openID function if necessary as I know a few members of my flist are planning to make a permanent move but I hope they will use that crosspost function so that I can remain updated.
I'm not good at creating new blogs. I have an insane journal account that I barely update (even though I got that as a "backup"). I tried having a journal just for my fanfiction and that fell though before a year had passed too.
I like where I am. I'm fully nested. (as an edit: I've been here since 2003)
I hope you'll all understand that.

on 2009-05-04 03:09 pm (UTC)I guess I've never heard of it prior... I just went to the site and it's basically LJ, but focus on creative work opposed to journaling? Is that kind of right?

on 2009-05-04 03:11 pm (UTC)Though I'm sure journaling is welcome too.
I'm just an LJ'er through and through as I don't feel I've ever been screwed over or blinded by the livejournal community as a whole.

on 2009-05-04 03:15 pm (UTC)Did you have a bad experience with Dreamwidth, or are you just saying that LJ has been good to you, so why leave?

on 2009-05-04 05:57 pm (UTC)LJ has been tremedously good to me :) Plus, it's cheaper to get a paid account at LJ for a year ($19.95 at LJ vs $36.00- $3/month- at Dreamwidth)

on 2009-05-04 06:05 pm (UTC)I know one person whose turned straight Dreamwidth, but for now, she's keeping the option open that crossposts entries on DW and LJ.

on 2009-05-05 03:37 am (UTC)1. It's created by two former LJ folks who wanted to implement certain changes and couldn't.
2. Two months of paid account at $5 grants me 75 user pix (w00t!)
3. One is able to cross-post up to three other blogs
4. I can upload several icons at once (not a big deal, but nice)
5. I REALLY love how people from LJ can be granted access (for example) mutantenemy@livejournal.dreamwidth for only replying to DW accounts WITHOUT creating a DW account.
6. Word has it one can create their own layouts utilizing a CSS tool they will provide.
And other nifty little things which I am still discovering.
